Singapore’s state regulator, Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) has partnered with the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) to launch the Future Communications Connectivity (FCC)lab. It has been set-up as part of Singapore’s S$70 million Future Communications Research & Development Programme (FCP).
Situated at SUTD’s campus, the FCCLab is the first physical 6G lab in the region and will look to combine 6G R&D with SUTD’s AI Mega Centre. FCCLab will accelerate cutting-edge research of future communications technologies and unlock breakthroughs in 6G research. It will also springboard emerging technologies such as holographic communications and intelligent sensing capabilities that underpin the next generation of self-driving cars and drones.
IMDA’s chief executive, Lew Cheun Hong said,
The innovations of today are not possible without constant investment and keeping our eyes on the next bound. We are excited to partner SUTD to launch Southeast Asia’s first 6G Lab.
This is the start of our efforts to tap into the promise of future communications tech and become a global node of excellence.
The new Lab is supported by Singapore’s National Research Foundation (NRF) through its Research, Innovation, and Enterprise (RIE) efforts.
In conjunction with the IMDA, the FCP programme will coordinate multidisciplinary research efforts across the RIE ecosystem. Currently, SUTD has awarded 20 FCP grant projects for research and translation. Research areas include multi-access edge computing, network orchestration, non-terrestrial networks, and security. Translation projects focus on use cases surrounding innovative mobility capabilities for air, land, and sea applications.
To ensure the pipeline of Singaporean talent, FCP has also supported 14 Masters-level scholarships for local students to pursue research and translations in future communications technologies.
Internationally, Singapore has already forged partnerships with Finland’s 6G Flagship and the Korean Institute of Communications and Information Sciences.

5G, as bad as it is, is merely a stepping stone. The 5G microwaves currently are not even cranked up all the way. Eventually they probably will, which the effects it will have on people will become even more noticeable, especially amongst those who have taken a Covid shot.
Even so, investors and nations are already looking beyond with 6G. 6G, I believe, will indeed be the last generational tech that is rolled out. 6G is basically the mark of the beast system, or at least the final system before the mark of the beast is officially implemented by the antichrist.
