Norway Announces They Will Track Food And Grocery Purchases

According to Life In Norway, the government-funded Statistics Norway (SSB) want to collect millions of receipts from purchasers on a daily basis, in a move that shops and Norwegians are not happy with.

The Norwegian website explains that the people have been living with an overreaching Big Brother for sometime, and residents have gotten complicit with it. ‘Because everything about an individual living in Norway is linked to their fødselnummer (birth number), SSB already knows where you live, what you earn and what’s on your criminal record,’ the website explained.

Last month Biometric Update reported that the nation would be replacing their digital ID authentication platform called BankID, with a set of apps that will require facial recognition, fingerprint scans, passwords and PINs; so users can log into their bank accounts. The phasing out process purportedly may begin next year.

As for the current move by the Norwegian government, the state will require the nation’s largest chains (NorgesGruppen, Coop, Bunnpris and Rema 1000) to provide them with all of their purchasing data. Nets, a payment processing company that handles 80% of the transactions in the nation, is also being mandated to hand over their data.

A link between a payment transaction made with a debit card and a grocery receipt enables SSB to link a payment transaction and receipt for more than 70% of grocery purchases.

The SSB said in a statement

The SSB asserts that this move is a faster and less time consuming way to analyze household consumption stats needed to ‘inform tax policy, social assistance and child allowance,’ the outlet reports.

When the purchases are linked to a household, it will be possible in the consumption statistics to analyze socio-economic and regional differences in consumption, and link it to variables such as income, education and place of residence.

SSB also noted

‘In 2012, thousands of Norwegian households wrote down what they bought in a paper booklet. SSB says the survey was time-consuming and error-prone. So back in 2013, discussions began on whether they could take advantage of digital tracks already left by customers,’ the Norwegian site adds.

The Daily Expose also points out that the SSB claims this now move will allow them to see what people’s diets are like, track business cycles, and better details on uses of private healthcare services.

The SSB’s website adds,

Payment transactions from Nets contain the ID of the cardholder in the form of an account number. This information is unique and personally identifiable. In order to meet the statistical needs of the consumption statistics and the diet statistics, there will also be a need to compare payment transactions from Nets with other personally identifiable information.

Statistics Norway will link the payment transactions from Nets to receipts for purchases in the large grocery chains in Norway. As of today, Statistics Norway collects receipt data from the four largest grocery chains. A link between a payment transaction made with a debit card and a grocery receipt enables Statistics Norway to link a payment transaction and receipt for just over 70 percent of grocery purchases.

Norwegian University of Science & Technology researcher Lisa Reutter is concerned about the move:

When we increase the public administration’s ability to classify, predict and control citizens’ behavior using large amounts of digital data, the balance of power between citizen and state is shifted.

NorgesGruppen and Nets are going to appeal this move. Nets said they share concern “about the collection and compilation of data that may be problematic and intrusive for the individual citizen.”

We are watching the mark of the beast’s arrival coming in even faster, and it is only going to accelerate and come to more Western nations soon enough.

Regulars of The WinePress know that I have been warning this was coming down the pike, and as the Norwegian government openly admits to, they want to see what people’s diet is. Why? So they can control you. All they have to do is officially link that up to a point system via social credit scores and carbon calculators, and they can then mitigate what you eat and how much you can participate in society. We know that these vile leaders want the masses to stop eating meat, so I am sure this will be used against them.
