The nation of Israel is ramping up it’s Covid vaccine-related mandates, by now requiring the scanning of the barcodes on their green passports to enter venues.
The WinePress had reported in late-August that Israel no longer considered taking two doses of a Covid vaccine as “fully vaccinated.” Rather, Israeli’s green passes would expire if they did not get a third shot – and even more subsequent shots to follow – the pass would expire after an allotted time.
Furthermore, the nation has even implemented a GPS-tracking system for all those mandated to go into isolation.
In order to coerce more residents to get vaccinated, The Times of Israel reported that the coronavirus cabinet decided to force public venues to scan the barcodes of the pass for entry, which began on October 5th, and enforcement a couple of days later.
‘Museums will be exempted to allow school classes to visit without taking COVID-19 tests. City libraries will also be exempted to allow books to be borrowed without a Green Pass,’ the report explained.

On Saturday night, the Education Ministry announced that they would be slowing down full implementation of arrangements to exempt schoolchildren from quarantine if they were in recent contact with someone who is deemed ‘Covid-positive,’ because of a shortage of rapid tests – something that other nations have been dealing with recently.
These new mandates were to begin on Monday the 11th in cities with low morbidity, but will now be gradually phased in over the course of days.
Both the Health Ministry and Prime Minister’s Office had said that these new quarantine rules were supposed to begin this past Thursday in the “green cities;” but cannot take effect the way they wanted it to because many parents have not received their rapid-antigen tests that they are supposed to use on their children.
The Times of Israel says, ‘Under the new quarantine system, students exposed to someone infected with COVID-19 will be allowed back at school once they take a PCR test and receive a negative result. The students, though back in class, will have to undergo rapid antigen tests every day for a week, at the end of which they will take another PCR test, which, if negative, will declare them all-clear.’
Exemption from quarantine will only apply to attendance at schools. The testing regime will not exempt students from general quarantine measures, however, or attend after-school clubs and activities.
An estimated 30 million rapid antigen tests designated for households will not arrive until middle October. Therefore, the quarantine-exemption program will only apply to schools for the time being in some locations, not including kindergarten and preschools.
However, the government and health bodies have not clearly indicated if these testing measures will occur at home at the schools, nor was it clear if this plan only applied to children who came into contact with someone deemed ‘Covid-positive’ at schools, or other locations.
‘A government statement announcing the plan also did not specify how it would be determined if a city is “green.” The Health Ministry has separate measures of morbidity for each community — an overall rating and one for schools — and the two are not always the same,’ the report further explains.
