“We firmly oppose the U.S. spreading disinformation about so-called China’s support for Russia’s defense industry, to which there is no supporting evidence. We deplore and reject the wrongful remarks of the U.S. side,” said a Chinese spokesperson,

Last week, world leaders apart of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) held their annual summit meeting to announce a number of important agreements and updates for the alliance. One of the more noteworthy things to come out of this summit was NATO’s pivot towards and against China, blaming them for enabling Russia for its actions in Ukraine, and blaming China for “fueling the largest conflict since World War II.”

In an official joint statement by NATO, the group claimed China’s actions “challenge our interests, security and values,” and claimed they are working to “reshape the rules-based international order.”

During a speech on July 10th, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg accused China of being a thorn in NATO’s side and is increasing the prospects of another World War. Stoltenberg stated:

So first of all, I think it’s important that we recognize the reality, and that’s the first step towards any action. And that is that not only are Iran and North Korea important when it comes to enabling Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, but China is the main enabler.

Because as you refer today, they are delivering the tools, the dual-use equipment, the microelectronics, everything Russia needs to build the missiles, the bombs, the aircrafts, and all the other systems that they use against Ukraine.

Well, I have said that it remains to be seen how far Allies are willing to go. But I strongly believe that if China continues, they cannot have it both ways. They cannot believe that again, have a kind of normal relationship with NATO Allies in North America and Europe, and then continue to fuel the war in Europe that constitutes the biggest security challenge for our security since the second World War. So this is a challenge for the Alliance. Let’s see how far we’re willing to go as Allies.

In his closing press conference on July 11th, Stoltenberg chastised China for their purported actions and made it known that the alliance will begin to treat China as an enemy, essentially.

Today in our meeting, we also met with our Indo-Pacific partners. China has become a decisive enabler of Russia’s war against Ukraine. Through its no-limits partnership and support for Russia’s defence industrial base. This includes the transfer of dual-use materials such as weapon components, equipment and raw materials.
We agree that China cannot continue to fuel the largest military conflict in Europe without this impacting Beijing’s interests and reputation.

[…] And this more dangerous world, we must stand together to defend our shared security interests and uphold our shared values.

Stoltenberg stated

During the Q&A session Stoltenberg was asked about recent Chinese military drills in Russian neighbor and ally Belarus. Stoltenberg replied:

“The Chinese exercise together with Belarusian forces in Belarus. It’s part of a pattern that just confirms how authoritarian regimes are aligning more and more and also how China is coming closer to NATO, in Europe, in Africa, in the Arctic and elsewhere. So this fits into the pattern we have seen. Also with a closer alignment between China and Russia but now also China and Belarus.

“And of course it also fits into the pattern of authoritarian powers working closely together in supporting Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, a neighbour to Belarus. We need to remember what kind of regimes we are speaking about. We are speaking about authoritarian regimes.

“China is oppressing its own people, cracking down on democratic voices – they crushed actually democratic voices in Hong Kong, more assertive behaviour in the South China Sea, threatening neighbours, threatening Taiwan. China is conducting a huge military build-up with no transparency and investing heavily in new modern missiles, nuclear weapons.

“So again, the fact that they are aligning more and more with Russia, with Belarus just fits into this broader picture of authoritarian powers working together. And of course, that makes it even more important we then work together with our partners also in the Indo-Pacific,” Stoltenberg explained.

China’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian was quick to respond and condemned NATO’s allegations.

We firmly oppose the U.S. spreading disinformation about so-called China’s support for Russia’s defense industry, to which there is no supporting evidence. We deplore and reject the wrongful remarks of the U.S. side.

What is more, the US and its allies have yet to stop trading with Russia. Last year, their trade with Russia reached over $130 billion, accounting for 18% of Russia’s foreign trade.

The US might as well reflect on the root cause of the crisis and do something for peace rather than being an unfair judge in this crisis. The US must never expect China to pay for the mistakes the US has made, and China will never accept US blame-shifting, bullying and coercion.

He stated

At the NATO summit, the alliance also met with ‘its Indo-Pacific partners – Australia, Japan, the Republic of Korea, and New Zealand,’ they wrote, and emphasized their strategic partnership in that region.

[NATO] will address our shared security challenges, including Russia’s war against Ukraine, China’s support for Russia’s war economy, and the growing alignment of authoritarian powers. In response, we must work ever more closely together to preserve peace and protect the rules-based international order.

Stoltenberg said

The Ministry of National Defense of the People’s Republic of China chastised Japan for trying to gang-up on them by partnering with the Philippines to perform joint military exercises.

Snr. Col. Zhang Xiaogang said in a statement:

Japan is not a concerned party in the South China Sea issue and therefore has no right to meddle in the maritime disputes between China and the Philippines

It is exactly the Philippines, which relies on external forces, and the out-of-region countries, which stick their noses where they don’t belong, that are changing the status quo in the South China Sea and aggravating regional tension.

Japan has repeatedly concocted incidents to launch wars of aggression against foreign countries in history. The international community should stay highly alert to its tendency to once again take the wrong path of militarism.

On top of NATO’s aggressive posturing, alliance players are discussing seizing Chinese assets in a similar manner the United States and allies stole Russian assets.

CNN reported that “the assets owned by China would almost certainly be nationalized, or nations would temporarily assume operating control, under emergency security measures. China can sue them in court after the fact.”

Doing this would greatly put a definite wedge between China and the U.S. and Europe; and Europe, which has already painfully decoupled from Russia, would feel even more severe pain and woe from this action. As Lena Petrova, CPA, puts it, “Europe is clearly on a path to self-destruction. […] It will be an extremely painful experience.”

AUTHOR COMMENTARY

The damage done by these failed and embarrassing sanctions against Russia only made the Russian economy stronger and the European economy weaker. If the U.S. and its lapdogs start doing this to China (which we know they inevitably will), the damage this will cause to the U.S. and Europe will be debilitating, which is putting it mildly.

Both Biden and Trump administrations have signaled that they are going to fuel this new Cold War against China by sanctioning and levying tariffs, through military intimation and an attempt at a coup to “liberate” China and ‘teach them some democracy!’ It matters not who wins this upcoming election: war and economic pain awaits.

Moreover, last year The WP reported on the pertinent statement by Chinese Defense spokesperson Wu Qian, who called the U.S. “war addicts” and the country has an “insatiable lust” for more death and destruction.

The U.S. are war addicts. The country has existed for 240 years, and only 16 years it did not go to war. The U.S. has established over 800 overseas military bases in more than 80 countries and regions, from Afghanistan to Iraq, from Syria to Libya.

Wherever the US military goes, people die everywhere.

Facts have proved that the US is the fundamental source of international disorder and the biggest disrupter of regional peace and stability.

He said

The sad part is he is not wrong, and these latest actions by NATO are proof of it.

Mark 13:7 And when ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars, be ye not troubled: for such things must needs be; but the end shall not be yet. [8] For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows.

[7] Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock? [8] Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also? [9] For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen? [10] Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope. (1 Corinthians 9:7-10).
