A number of bots were on display at the prestigious World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) 2024 in Shanghai, China; but one of the more notable displays was showcased by Chinese National Local Joint Humanoid Robot Innovation Center, which released its highly anticipated open-source general-purpose humanoid robot Qinglong for the first time.
Days before the event, the company gave a sneak peak as to some of the basic functions the android could perform, Shanghai Eye reported.
During live demonstrations at the event, the bot was seen picking up and arranging food presented on the table after the host commanded Qinglong to sort the food. “Hello, I will arrange the bread and fruit separately,” the bot replied.
TechNode listed some of the specs and other capabilities the robot can do:
‘Qinglong stands at 185cm tall and weighs 80kg, according to the company. It features a highly bionic torso and anthropomorphic motion control, supporting multi-modal mobility, perception, interaction, and manipulation. With 43 active degrees of freedom, Qinglong achieved a maximum joint peak torque of 400 N·m (Newton-meters) and 400 TOPs (Tera Operations Per Second) of computational power.’
‘The humanoid robot combines mobile lower limbs for agile walking with lightweight, high-precision upper limbs for operations,’ the on-site presentation stated. ‘The company claimed that the model supports rapid walking, agile obstacle avoidance, stable incline and decline movement, and resistance to impact interference, making it an ideal platform for developing general artificial intelligence software and hardware,’ the outlet added.

Elon Musk’s Tesla also showcased its second-generation humanoid robot Optimus amidst a fleet of other competing tech companies.

The South China Morning Post noted that ‘a total of 18 robots, including “Healthy Loong” developed by Humanoid Robots (Shanghai), were presented at the event.’
‘Although humanoid robots have started to be used in China in sectors including education, entertainment, healthcare, elder care, and factory manufacturing, they are still in the lab research stage, according to representatives from the companies, and are not generating sales yet,’ the paper added.
In a separate post, SCMP also wrote: ‘The seventh edition of WAIC, where more than 1,500 AI-related products and systems are expected to be exhibited, will be held just days after Beijing scored a diplomatic win in the United Nations.’
‘On Monday, the UN General Assembly unanimously adopted a China-led resolution that calls on the international community to create a “free, open, inclusive and non-discriminatory” business environment among wealthy and developing nations for AI development,’ SCMP added.

I am currently reading Pete Ruckman’s book on Philosophy & Science, along with my Bible reading. In it he described & proved in plain, simple terms the folly of all this by the word of God, including the prophetic. It’s amazing how much of this he predicted by what is written, critiquing history& then current events honestly & in that light.

Men repeat the same mistakes, only ‘learning’ with regard to improving the technology by which to sin against God & man, their own selves….as written in the book of Daniel. Real wisdom is found in Ecclesiastes and Proverbs, & the culmination of it, with righteousness, forgiveness & mercy available for the penitent believer, found in the Lord Jesus Christ according to the scriptures. The fulness of the Godhead dwelling in him bodily.

Right now, even for the redeemed, in the current dispensation of God’s grace received through faith, in the Kingdom of God in which there is neither Jew nor Gentile, but Christ all and in all: godliness is hindered by corruptible flesh. The good fight of the faith is required against sin, flesh and the devil, and self-denial, righteous judgment by the word of God, forgiveness within the local assemblies, members of the greater body not yet made absolutely manifest, is required. Maturity, meekness & dignity is required in real & wise godly charity & love, not pride.

Sin is a universal. Salvation is individual. When Christian men& women obey the commission of the Lord Jesus Christ to live by, & take out the word of God: teaching & preaching within the bounds of their respective roles& proper place of influence, there is hope where it is received.

God’s power is less evident when men & women do not keep the word of God, or lose themselves & limit their own power/rights, striving to obey it themselves. Studying to shew themselves approved of God, each one individually a workman needing not to be ashamed, able to rightly divide the word of God. Works are futile & vain to gain salvation, grafting into the vine, but afterwards, & as we abide in the vine, there is fruit labored for, & reward for that fruit that the world cannot comprehend or appreciate. Most reward is in eternity, but even when it comes in earthly gain, there isn’t to be a vainglorious boasting giving occasion to sin, inciting covetousness….and it’s best to quietly pass it on, put it to the Lord’s service, so that it doesn’t become a snare.
