GOP members in the United States Senate are calling upon President Joe Biden to reinstate a travel ban to and from China, amidst a number of reports that claim China is dealing with an explosion of contagious respiratory illnesses and pneumonia, reigniting fears that this could become another pandemic scenario if not handled swiftly.
This call from a number of Republican Senators comes after the World Health Organization (WHO) and international media warned of this purported pneumonia outbreak in China, recommending the same Covid-related protocols of masking, vaccination, social distancing, and isolation if necessary.
More recently, there are reports that this pneumonia has already spread to the United States.
The disease is now being labeled as ‘White Lung Syndrome.’ News Nation reports that this disease has struck children in Ohio the most. The publication wrote:
An outbreak of pediatric pneumonia cases in Ohio is causing concern among parents worried the spread of the illness is linked to a surge in similar cases in China and other countries around the globe.
Ohio is the first state in the U.S. to report an outbreak of the illness, with an ‘extremely high’ number of children being hospitalized.
The strain of pneumonia, dubbed “white lung syndrome,” has spawned 142 pediatric cases in Ohio’s Warren County since August of this year, according to a press release from the Warren County Health District (WCHD).
The number of cases exceeds the county average and meets the Ohio Department of Health’s (ODH) definition of an “outbreak.”
However, officials do not think it is a new respiratory disease but “rather a large uptick in the number of pneumonia cases normally seen at one time,” according to a WCHD spokesperson.
The average age of the affected children is 8, with the youngest being 3 years old.
Dr. Tom Frieden, former director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, joined “The Hill on NewsNation” to discuss the outbreak.
Although we don’t have all of the information I wish we would have on the details of who’s getting sick and when. What we believe is happening is sometimes called an ‘immunity gap,’ that there were years where people weren’t getting infected because of lockdowns and therefore are much more susceptible to influenza, RSV, COVID and other infections.

In a letter to President Biden penned yesterday, Senators Marco Rubio (R-FL); JD Vance (R-OH); Rick Scott (R-FL); Tommy Tuberville (R-AL); and Mike Braun (R-IN), urged the President to implement travel restrictions in and out of China.
According to an official statement on Braun’s website, the GOP Senator wrote:
A mysterious respiratory illness is once again spreading in China. Until we know more about what could be a new pathogen, the United States must do everything possible to prevent the illness from reaching our shores.
U.S. Senator Mike Braun joined Senator Marco Rubio and colleagues sent a letter to President Joe Biden urging him to restrict travel between the U.S. and China until we know more about this disease.
The full text of their letter to the President is as follows:
Dear Mr. President:
In light of an unknown respiratory illness spreading throughout the People’s Republic of China (PRC), we call on you to immediately restrict travel between the United States and the PRC. As you know, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has a long history of lying about public health crises. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the CCP’s obfuscation of the truth, and lack of transparency, robbed the United States of vital knowledge about the disease and its origin.
On January 31, 2020, President Trump issued an order to restrict travel from the PRC into the United States to protect the American people and counter the spread of COVID-19. Many officials and commentators—including you—criticized his decision as being influenced by “xenophobia.” But history and common sense show his decision was the right one.
At this moment, the world faces another unknown pathogen emanating from the PRC that could spread to other countries, including the United States. The PRC has reported an increase in this mystery illness—which it claims to be pneumonia caused by known pathogens—since mid-October. This illness reportedly is a special hazard for children and has overrun hospitals in the north of the country. The World Health Organization (WHO) says it is unclear if the disease is due to an overall increase in respiratory infections or separate events. If history is any indication, we have cause to be concerned.
The WHO has requested that the CCP share “detailed information” about the mystery illness. However, CCP has an incentive to lie, just as they did throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and any new pathogen could derail its efforts to stimulate its economy. Besides, we should not wait for the WHO to take action given its track record of slavish deference to the CCP. We must take the necessary steps to protect the health of Americans, and our economy. That means we should immediately restrict travel between the United States and the PRC until we know more about the dangers posed by this new illness. A ban on travel now could save our country from death, lockdowns, mandates, and further outbreaks later.

What these senators are calling for is literally the same rhetoric and propaganda they used in The Covid War. And I thought it was those ‘evil Dems’ that wanted to lock us down and restrict our freedoms? Remember a few months ago during that last round of Covid scare? Remember how it was almost exclusively conservative and alt media freaking out about Covid rhetoric? News flash: It’s one big club and you ain’t in it; and they are doing it all over again.
