Russia is threatening to “take retaliatory measures” after two purported drones launched by Ukraine attacked the Kremlin, in a move that could very well further escalate this conflict.
RT reported that last night unverified footage by a local captured smoke from the Grand Kremlin Palace, the official workplace of President Vladimir Putin. The outlet wrote:
The video shows plumes of white smoke rising into the night sky over the Grand Kremlin Palace, a 19th century building serving as the official working residence of the Russian president.
No sound can be heard in the video but witnesses claimed on Telegram that they heard at least one loud blast resembling “thunder rumbling.” People on the Kremlin embankment also reportedly saw sparks rising into the sky over the Kremlin wall.
An unverified video circulating on social media also shows a fire on the roof of the Senate Palace, the president’s second working residence in the Kremlin. Flames can be seen rising near the top of the roof.
Another unverified video published on Telegram purported to show the moment one of the drones struck the Senate Palace. The footage shows the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) approaching the building at a low altitude, before blowing up right over its dome. The blast appeared not to have dealt any significant damage to the building, as even the flagstaff with the presidential banner remained in place after the attack.
Russia’s regional channel TVC published another video, thought to be of the attack, showing a UAV flying over Red Square before blowing up over the Senate Palace. The channel also claimed that the two apparent attacks had occurred within 15 minutes of each other. The first drone struck the Senate Palace around 02:27 Moscow time, while the second one fell on the grounds of the Kremlin around 02:43am on Wednesday, the channel said, citing the videos it had obtained.
Since then today the Kremlin officially responded to the incident, blaming these strikes on Ukrainian forces. They report that Putin was unharmed and his daily duties remain unaffected. Russia is of course not happy about this at all and are now threatening to respond accordingly.
The Kremlin wrote:
Tonight, the Kyiv regime made an attempt to strike with unmanned aerial vehicles on the Kremlin residence of the President of the Russian Federation.
Two unmanned aerial vehicles were aimed at the Kremlin. As a result of timely actions taken by the military and special services with the use of radar warfare systems, the vehicles were put out of action. As a result of their fall and the scattering of fragments on the territory of the Kremlin, there were no victims or material damage.
We regard these actions as a planned terrorist act and an attempt on the life of the President, carried out on the eve of Victory Day, the May 9th Parade, at which the presence of foreign guests is also planned.
As a result of this terrorist act, the President was not injured. The schedule of its work has not changed, it continues as usual.
The Russian side reserves the right to take retaliatory measures where and when it sees fit.
Dmitry Medvedev, former President of Russia and current deputy chairman of the Security Council, boldly stated that Zelensky his “clique” need to be eliminated.
After today’s terrorist attack, there are no options left other than the physical elimination of Zelensky and his clique.
[Zelensky] is not even needed for signing an instrument of unconditional surrender.Hitler, as is known, did not sign it either. There will always be some substitute.
Medvedev wrote on Telegram, according to Russian state media Tass
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky denies that Ukraine carried out this attack, though provided a bit of an open-ended response that did not definitely rule out it was their doing. Zelensky, while visiting in Finland, the newest ally of NATO, said that Putin and crew are trying to foment more animosity and reasons to fight, as Russians grow weary of this conflict, adding that the people are tired of seeing Russian troops getting butchered on the battlefield.
We are attacking neither Putin nor Moscow. We are fighting on our own territory, defending our villages and cities.
We cannot use anything anywhere. That is why we did not attack Putin. We will leave it to the tribunal.
He can no longer motivate his society and just send the military to their deaths. He can no longer motivate his state. He has no victories on the battlefield. The second army of the world has lost. They are unable to occupy Ukraine. They were repulsed by us. Now he needs to somehow motivate these people to move forward.
They have lost this war – they have lost as a state, they have lost historically… This is what is happening. And now he needs to do something drastic – assassination attempts, drones, some geese that bombed them… That is, they will come up with some steps every day.
Zelensky said during a press conference
Russian officials see it the other way: some assert that Ukraine did this because morale over there is low, and they needed a “nice picture” to try and lift their spirits.
Alexander Mikhailov, head of the Bureau of Military-Political Analysis, told Sputnik in a statement:
This story is related to international terrorism.
The fact is that Ukraine is already openly positioning itself as a terrorist state, which is covered up by the collective West, primarily by Washington and Brussels. And with such support, [the Kiev regime] calmly arranges such terrorist acts of sabotage, using the simplest and most modern method for this, that is, buying these products in the West and equipping them with the necessary amount of explosive, and then sending them on a particular course.
Most importantly, they are trying to show the collective West that this counteroffensive, funded by the West, is underway. It’s just a multi-layered one. One of its stages is an attack on the Kremlin. But we are well aware that from a military point of view, everyone is safe and sound and no damage has been inflicted. And all this [fuss] is just a propaganda stunt.
Mikhailov added that Russia will also be convening with their BRICS allies to discuss this, as he assumes that Ukraine’s Western allies will turn a blind eye to their attack.
We should explain: ‘Tomorrow they will arrange sabotages in Beijing, in Delhi, in other states, in other developed economies of the world,’ because those who want to maintain their dominance feel that they are falling down; so they are clinging to power, they have already resorted to the meanest methods, pulling the strings of these satellites and their other subordinate state.
He added
Lieutenant-General (ret.) Yevgeny Buzhinsky, chairman of PIR-Center think tank executive board and professor of economics who served as the Russian military’s top arms control negotiator from 2001 to 2009, added that this PR stunt has had no real effect, but noted, “an information war is one thing, but, in fact, attacks on infrastructure are a completely different thing.”
Dmitry Kornev, a military expert and founder of the Military Russia portal, also told Sputnik that the response by Russia will probably be an ‘asymmetric one;’ but did allude to a swift military strike, saying:
[Russia is well aware of] all the targets on the territory of Ukraine, we know where the command posts are.It is clear that it will be impossible to destroy all of them at the same time, but there may be retaliatory measures.
AUTHOR COMMENTARY
I take no one’s side in all of this, and while I have been very critical of Ukraine and the West’s reprehensible dealings, I have a hard time believing this story. If these drones were manned by Ukrainians, then how did Russian forces not see them approaching long before they got to any infrastructure, or there are Ukrainian agents launching drones right on the Kremlin’s doorstep? I find all of this to be rather questionable.
But that does not matter: what matters is that this very well could be used as the next proxy to further expand this conflict. The war has begun to fall from the media here in the West, as it no longer has the same level of importance that it once did, as Americans and Europeans go broke and deeper in debt as money continues to get funneled to Ukraine.
We will have to wait and see what comes of this. Nothing could happen at all, or this could spark something else. Be on the lookout.

[7] Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock? [8] Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also? [9] For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen? [10] Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope. (1 Corinthians 9:7-10).

One of many false flags. Just to escalate.
looks too much like CGI
i agree it looks pretty fake
If I believed this current lie-du-jour, I would say let’s hope Putin has better luck.
Russia is now blaming the US for it. IF the video is real, this will escalate to full blown war big time.
