Pope Francis is urging Christians to spend less on Christmas this year and to send the savings to the people of Ukraine.
To begin his ‘General Audience’ pontification on December 14th at the Vatican, he began by stating:
We are now entering the final phase of this journey of catechesis on discernment. We started out from the example of Saint Ignatius of Loyola; we then considered the elements of discernment, namely, prayer, self-knowledge, desire and the “book of life”; we focused on desolation and consolation, which form its “matter”; and then we reached the confirmation of the choice made.

After Francis gave his benedictions and litany of salutations, the Pope ended his speech by encouraging Catholics and the world to have a more “humble Christmas.” Interestingly enough, the pre-translated transcript in English did not include these statements, but are only found in the original Latin transcript.
Nevertheless here is what Francis had to say:
And let us renew our closeness to the martyred Ukrainian people, persevering in fervent prayer for these brothers and sisters of ours who are suffering so much.
Brothers and sisters, I tell you: there is so much suffering in Ukraine, so much! And I would like to draw attention a little to next Christmas, including the holidays.
It’s nice to celebrate Christmas, have a party… but let’s lower the level of Christmas expenses a little – that’s what they’re called.
Let’s have a humbler Christmas, with humbler gifts. We send what we save to the Ukrainian people, who are in need, who suffer so much; they go hungry, feel the cold and many die because there are no doctors or nurses close at hand.
Let’s not forget: a Christmas, yes; at peace with the Lord, yes, but with the Ukrainians in the heart. And we make that concrete gesture for them.
Inviting you all to intensify your spiritual preparation for Christmas which is now imminent, I cordially bless you and now let us all pray the Our Father together.
AUTHOR COMMENTARY
Ah, so will you be gifting all your riches of gold, silver, priceless gems, and fine antiques to the “martyrs” in Ukraine? Oh, wait, nevermind…
Let us also not forget that the ‘evil’ Putin has been in the back pocket of Rome for a VERY longtime.
[3] For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies. [4] And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. [5] For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities. [11] And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for no man buyeth their merchandise any more: [12] The merchandise of gold, and silver, and precious stones, and of pearls, and fine linen, and purple, and silk, and scarlet, and all thyine wood, and all manner vessels of ivory, and all manner vessels of most precious wood, and of brass, and iron, and marble, [13] And cinnamon, and odours, and ointments, and frankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and beasts, and sheep, and horses, and chariots, and slaves, and souls of men. [15] The merchants of these things, which were made rich by her, shall stand afar off for the fear of her torment, weeping and wailing, [16] And saying, Alas, alas, that great city, that was clothed in fine linen, and purple, and scarlet, and decked with gold, and precious stones, and pearls! Revelation 18:3-5, 11-13, 15-16
[7] Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock? [8] Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also? [9] For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen? [10] Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope. (1 Corinthians 9:7-10).

Right now people are struggling to survive. Most people are retired, disabled, working close to minimum wage, or have so much debt that they are lucky to be able to give a couple of twenties for charity, if not just a solitary twenty. Some are more well off, but this isn’t a time of financial abundance. Cheep thrills, yes, but not financial abundance.
Businesses are dying because young people cannot afford to buy certain products. Many in the older generations are finding that they things they once bought into with no problem are now becoming quite the financial burden, such as newspaper subscriptions and satellite tv. Worse case scenario is that they have to choose between groceries or medicine.
There’s real worries about high heating bills in Europe, if not outright blackouts, and people who could live peacefully in the comfort of a warm winter are now scrambling to acquire some basic emergency warmth provisions, or at least the wise are.
I could go on but the long story short is that we simply do not have money for Ukraine. We will most likely not have enough money to help out our own people if the times become much leaner than they are now, much less help the unfortunate in another nation.
Ukraine can fight their own battles can’t they? Don’t they have a military and perhaps some armed citizens?
Why doesn’t poop Francis give his golden chalice which is probably worth millions alone to Ukraine. That chalice alone could purchase several dozens of thousands of weapons and a couple of gunboats for the navy.
right lol. the trillionaires ask us to help fund the nazis in Ukraine
He is out of his mind you can look at him and tell he is possessed with devil spirits. Why don’t he send his fortune to Ukraine?
Here’s the hypocrite at it again…
