Charged: Retail Tech News says, ‘Some reports have said that the move will see the UK’s largest supermarket moving away from cash and card payments, with others suggesting they will no longer be accepted at all. Many consumers are apprehensive about the technology, seeing it as one step closer to a cashless society.’

The chain already offers an app called Tesco Pay+, that allows customers to pay with groceries with a fingerprint of facial scan. The app tracks user’s spending habits, pay the bill remotely, and collect in-store points.

Moreover, Tesco recently partnered with Onfido – a photo-based identification and artificial intelligence company – to provide a smoother and more secure application process for Clubcard Pay+ customers.

In a recent tweet one Tesco customer claimed,

I’ve just had an interesting conversation with a staff member at Tesco who has confirmed that Tesco will be implementing biometric payments (face & palms) by early next year. They will no longer be accepting cash or cards.

I don’t usually shop in there. That’s just reinforced my decision to never step foot in the place again.

Once again we see another leap closer towards the mark of the beast, as The WP has been reporting that more and more large chains are implementing and enforcing the issue of going biometric. And yet the masses have zero clue what is transpiring right in front of their faces.
