The social virtual connection company that is focused on helping to further flourish and grow the metaverse, Emerge has created what they call the Emerge Home system: a small device that similarly looks like a gaming council, that allows users to freely use their hands in the metaverse, allowing them to feel objects without additional gloves and gear.
According to Venture Beat in late-January 2022, the outlet said, ‘Online, we miss non-verbal cues, sensory experiences, and ways of feeling things together.’ Emerge explained that as these faux worlds take the preeminence for shared social interactions and experiences, they still currently lack the use our of physical parts and feelings, ‘and physically connect with those who matter most to us, our “inner circles.”‘
This device emits ultrasonic waves that allows the user to virtually feel and touch things in the metaverse. Per its patented technology, the system generates a plain of three feet above the device, and 120 degrees surrounding it, granting the user to feel things in mid-air.
Emerge represents the next paradigm shift in human interaction. Emerge Home’s goal is to take people beyond the screen and allow them to connect emotionally in a natural way, no matter the distance between them.

We are starting with virtual reality today, and exploring other interfaces in the near future. Instead of attempting to replicate the feeling of reality, Emerge focuses on communicating emotions through virtual tactile experiences.

The system and other affiliated devices went on sale in February on Kickstarter, retailing at $500 for a limited time. Some of the early investors at the time were from venture capitalists, and other big investors in the gaming and social media realm.
The device is now being partnered together with Meta’s Quest VR headsets.

In the tech field, so many of these devices are manufactured for many years in advance, and then inch by inch they are released to the public.
