Today Premier Doug Ford of Ontario, Canada, announced the launch of new vaccine passport restrictions for the province, saying they are essential to prevent another lockdown.
Ford, however, said they are to be temporary, according to CTV News.
These certificates, they’re the best chance we have to get through these coming months without having to move backwards.
But, let me be very clear, this is a temporary and exceptional measure. We will only use these certificates for as long as they are needed and not one day longer.
It’s no secret that I was reluctant to use this tool, but our highest concern, what keeps me up at night, is ensuring we never lose our hard fought progress.
We can’t afford to shut down again, or experience a sudden surge in cases like we’re seeing in other provinces across the country.
It’s important that each of us remain patient, especially with business owners and frontline workers who are implementing the vaccine certificate.
As we begin this vaccine certificate, there’ll be a period of learning. I want to be clear, enforcement will lead with education and will be reasonable to business owners.

Starting today, proof of vaccination is required for select settings. I know this may be tough for some, but we owe it to our businesses to do everything we can to avoid lockdowns.

This newly implemented expansion of the vaccine passport system mandates that residents must show proof of vaccination and government ID, before entering gyms and sports facilities, dine-in eateries, nightclubs, movie theaters, and other venues.
Province officials explained that people with medical exemptions can use a doctor’s note to bypass the new rules.
Businesses who do not comply face fines, along with patrons who provide falsified information.
The WinePress reported in early September that Ontario instigated vaccine passports for funerals and marriages.
CTV News says that over 85% of those aged 12+ have had at least one dose of a Covid vaccine, with 79% of the eligible population having both.
These moves by Ford are at a time when Justin Trudeau, Canada’s Prime Minister, won his snap election along with his Liberal party, though it was not the majority they were hoping for.

We have watched and listened to our feckless leaders lie consistently to us in the last 20 months time and time again. It seems that no matter what we do that it may come to the time when they may force us to get a vaccination.
