Transgender Activists Succeed In Changing Terms Such As “Mother” To “Birthing Parent”

Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust proclaim that “Breastmilk” should be referred to as “human milk” or “breast/chestmilk” or “milk from the feeding mother or parent.”

“Maternity” services has also been rechristened as “perinatal services.”

This includes other changes such as “mother” with “birthing parent;” “woman” with “woman or person;” “father” with “parent;” “co-parent” or “second-biological parent.”

The Sun reported that the policy document stated,

Gender identity can be a source of oppression and health inequality.

We also recognise that there is currently biological essentialism and transphobia present within elements of mainstream birth narratives and discourse.

The document noted that people do not have to stop using the terms such as “mother,” but should start to integrate the use of these terms to be more inclusive.

The Sun also reported that the trust later tweeted,

We want everybody who uses our services to see themselves reflected in language we use.

Campaign group TransActual tweeted,

Let’s hope many more trusts follow suit.

Everybody deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.
