It is no secret that marriages have been on a drastic decline for some decades now. It is no question that divorce rates and “life-partner relationship” have grown. But are marriages facing an even further decline?

A Gallup poll was conducted answering some of these kinds questions. Here is what they found:

Americans See Marriage As Less Important For Couples With Children Together

Fewer U.S. adults now than in past years believe it is “very important” for couples who have children together to be married. Currently, 29% say it is very important that such a couple legally marry, down from 38% who held this view in 2013 and 49% in 2006.

31% adults say it is “somewhat important.” 18% say it is not too important, and 22% say it is not important at all.

In 2006, according to Gallup polls, 49% Americans said it is very important for couples with children to wed. 23% were on the other end of the spectrum.

According to Gallup, these numbers remain consistent with American’s changing views on marriage. 66% polled currently believe it is morally acceptable to have a baby outside of marriage. This is a 53% since first being asked this question in 2001. 72% consider sex between an unmarried man and woman morally acceptable. This again is also another 53% increase since 2001.

They note that young adults and those who politically identify as liberal – views remain consistent with what was polled in 2013, compared to other groups who had noticeable differences.

Americans More Inclined to See Marriage as Critical for Life Partners

In a separate question, 38% Americans are more likely to believe it is very important for couples to marry if they plan to spend the rest of their lives together than if they have a child together. 26% feel it is somewhat important for couples who plan to spend their lives together to get married, while 15% say it is not too important and 21% say it is not important at all.

In 2006, those who are more likely to believe it is very important for couples to marry if they plan to spend the rest of their lives together – the number used to be much higher at 54%.

Desire for Marriage Still Strong; Most Have Been Married

The Gallup poll finds that 69% Americans have been married at some point, which includes those currently married, divorced, or widowed. In 2006 this number was at 80% – a 11% decrease.

Of the 49% currently married – this number has declined from 55% in 2006.

The report also includes that between 1978-83, the percentage of those currently married was at 64%. This is a 15% decrease from 1983-2020.

In the late 1970’s and early 80’s, the poll found that 5% report divorcement to 10% since 2015.

81% who say they have not been married say they hope to be married someday.

Citing a separate report from Wilkinson & Finkbeiner Family Law Attorneys, – over 115 facts regarding divorce in America are provided. Here are some of those numbers.

AUTHOR COMMENTARY

The numbers are undeniable, and there is no question that they will get worse. The data compilation by that law firm noted in the beginning of their report that these numbers have not been adjusted since the Covid-19 hysteria. As 2021 gets rolling, we will learn of the new numbers. I imagine these numbers all went up to some degree.

[1] Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; [2] Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; [3] Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

1 Timothy 4:1-3

Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.

Hebrews 13:4

The King James Bible got right again. It prophesized that people were going to forbid marriage, and these numbers prove that. These numbers were just for America – now factoring in other nations, the numbers are astronomical.

The numbers speak for themselves, but there are a few that I thought were intriguing:

With the divorce-rate among professing Evangelicals tells a story that many of these relationships came from fornication, and in some cases, a bit a social status among their congregations.

Another cause of divorce had to do with video games. The WinePress has reported on the video game pandemic we are facing, along with fast-food companies like KFC making gaming consoles combining them with dummy-downed microwaves built in them. This further validates that video games are not just time-wasters, but have serious and lifetime consequences attached to them.

There is a lot that could be that said here in response to these facts, but there is no denying that we are in fact in the latter days and end times that the Bible said would happen.

Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.
