Right before the Christmas holiday in 2021, Boston, Massachusetts, Mayor Michelle Wu mandated proof of vaccination that would go live starting January 15th.
From that WinePress report:
On Monday, Mayor Michelle Wu announced what her administration is calling “The B-Together” plan, which requires proof of vaccination for indoor dining, event venues, indoor gyms, and other entertainment and recreational venues.
This mandate will go into effect on January 15th. By February 15th a second shot must be accomplished for all patrons and workers. City workers must also get vaccinated along the same timeline, and weekly testing is not an option.
This includes everyone 12 and up, and those aged 5-11 must begin showing proof of vaccination in May.
‘Verification can be done by showing a vaccine card, a digital picture of a vaccine card, a picture of any official immunization record, a city-designated app, or any other COVID vaccine verification app,’ said WBZ CBS 4.
Bostoners could be heard protesting the mandate the day Mayor Wu announced it.
In already a relatively short amount of time the effects of it can be felt by Boston-based business.
Reported by Insider, the Massachusetts Restaurant Association (MRA) sent a letter to the Mayor’s desk complaining that restaurants are losing upwards of $15,000 each week because of the vaccine mandate.
‘The MRA is a statewide association that says it provides access, influence, and protection to restaurant professionals. It also provides support to the hospitality industry in city halls and the state Capitol,’ explained Insider.
The damage that has already occurred statewide in the restaurant industry in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic cannot be undone, but the future of our restaurants, small businesses and employment are reliant on the choices our leaders make today.
We ask that you reevaluate the vaccine mandate given the rapidly improving conditions in Boston and provide the roadmap forward so that the most beleaguered industry, in the most affected city in the state, can make a plan towards recovery.
Bob Luz, President of the MRA wrote in the letter, reported by The Boston Herald.
Insider reached out to Wu, and she responded with,
As community positivity goes down, as we see vaccination rates go up, we want to get back to a situation at some point where people are fully free to go about their lives.
Moreover, Wu told the press that the city was trying to determine what the next best of course action to take is.
The hope is that we will continue seeing progress with our vaccination rates going up, and that will mean that we should be able to adjust our policies down the line.

A poor man that oppresseth the poor is like a sweeping rain which leaveth no food.
Proverbs 28:3
A broke rundown government is now culling off what remained of small and family businesses and restaurants.
I have been saying since day one of The WinePress is that these mandates and restrictions have many different goals that are being accomplished under the guise of Covid, and one of them is to crush the remainder of the middle class – leaving only a new feudal system, of extreme haves and extreme have-nots.
[7] Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock? [8] Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also? [9] For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen? [10] Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope. (1 Corinthians 9:7-10).
