A teenager from Victoria, Australia, has been contracted to encourage teenagers to go on “vax dates,” to get a Covid-19 vaccine without permission from her parents.
The video uploaded to TikTok was directed by the Youth Affairs Council of Victoria (YACVIC) – depicts two girls who decide to go on a date to the movies, after lockdown restrictions were lifted. The gate attendant asked to show proof of vaccination, but one of the them said “my parents haven’t let me get vaccinated yet.”
I mean, you’re over 14. You don’t actually need to get their permission. Wanna go do it now – go on a vax date?
The other girl replied
The girl said she would, and googled where the nearest clinic was to get vaccinated that instant.
After the one girl gets her inoculation, the couple skip together out the clinic holding hands. The video then said, “Live, Love, Jab for more cute dates in your life.”
Pro tip: if you’re over 14, you can have your own Medicare card and consent to getting vax’d.

In Victoria, children aged 11 and under still need parental consent to get vaccinated.
But according to an official Victorian website,
People aged 12 to 17 may provide their own consent, if deemed to be a mature minor by a senior and experienced immuniser.
That means a health professional assesses whether someone in this age group understands the information relevant to the decision to be vaccinated and the effect of that decision.
The New South Wales is also doing something similar that allows for younger teenagers to receive a Covid vaccine with parental guidance.
It is to ensure a small number of children, aged 14 and 15, who may have difficulty getting consent can have the opportunity to get vaccinated.

Australia is not the only country that is urging kids and teens alike to get vaccinated against their parents wishes. There are some US states where children can get the vaccine without parental consent.
