Fauci And Biden Administration Are Now Urging Booster Shots, Expanding To Adults To Get A Third Shot

After a slow start to the booster shot rollout, the Biden administration are expected to expand booster shot to eligible adults.

According to data from the CDC, only 36% of those aged 65+ went out and got a Covid booster.

‘The pandemic still isn’t over, and the data is clear that vaccine effectiveness has waned over time and with the rise of Delta — but also that a booster dose restores protection against the virus to remarkable levels,’ writes Axios.

Fauci gave his thoughts on the boosters to Axios:

As every month goes by, the immunity wanes more and more. So as time goes by, you’re going to see more vaccinated people [more susceptible to Covid].

As is always the case, the elderly are more vulnerable, because they’re more likely to have waning of protection over time.

I believe it’s extremely important for people to get boosters, and I am hoping very soon we will see a situation where there won’t be any confusion about who should and should not get boosters.

In my opinion boosters are ultimately going to become a part of the standard regimen and not just a bonus.

‘Go Get Boosted’

Fauci was not done with his sentiment with booster shots, as he further explained to Insider why Americans need to go get their boosters if they have already been given two doses.

[Let’s] make it crystal clear that if you have been vaccinated — go get boosted.

Make it really simple. If you had a primary vaccination, get a booster.

Right now, don’t make it complicated.

Fauci also told Insider that he hopes that booster shots for all adults “keep people out of the hospital” and “keep people from dying.”

The effect of boost is very, very favorable to preventing people from getting infected.

We have got to get almost everybody who’s gotten the primary vaccination regimen, we’ve got to get all of them boosted.

Even though, for the most part, the vaccines absent the boost protect quite well — particularly among younger people — against hospitalization.

But even though Fauci wants boosters to be administration asap, he still says those holding out from getting their first doses need to do so now.

I don’t like to assign blame to people, [but], unvaccinated people, if they’re responsible for most of the infections, then they’re responsible for most of the circulation of the virus in the community.
