As the future of the metaverse is making the rounds all over the world, one tenured computer scientist who worked on the first augmented reality system at Air Force Research, is warning that this metaverse will ultimately ruin actual reality.
Louis Rosenberg, who also helped found virtual reality company Immersion Corporation, said that by integrating augmented and virtual realities and having long hours of interacting in these faux worlds, could “alter our sense of reality” and ruin “how we interpret our direct daily experiences.”
Our surroundings will become filled with persons, places, objects, and activities that don’t actually exist, and yet they will seem deeply authentic to us.
… I am concerned about the legitimate uses of AR by the powerful platform providers that will control the infrastructure.
Rosenburg wrote in a piece published by Big Think
On top of this, Rosenburg is concerned that things such as ‘smart glasses’ will at some point cause people to “become thoroughly dependent on the virtual layers of information projected all around us.”
It will feel no more optional than internet access feels optional today.
You won’t unplug your AR system because doing so will make important aspects of your surroundings inaccessible to you, putting you at a disadvantage socially, economically, and intellectually.
The fact is, the technologies we adopt in the name of convenience rarely remain optional — not when they are integrated into our lives as broadly as AR will be.
He says that the world is already living in “dangerous times,” but these augmented worlds have “the potential to amplify the dangers to levels we have never seen.”
Imagine walking down the street in your hometown, casually glancing at people you pass on the sidewalk.
It is much like today, except floating over the heads of every person you see are big glowing bubbles of information.
Maybe the intention is innocent, allowing people to share their hobbies and interests with everyone around them.
Now imagine that third parties can inject their own content, possibly as a paid filter layer that only certain people can see. And they use that layer to tag individuals with bold flashing words like “Alcoholic” or “Immigrant” or “Atheist” or “Racist” or even less charged words like “Democrat” or “Republican.”
Those who are tagged may not even know that others can see them that way.
The virtual overlays could easily be designed to amplify political division, ostracize certain groups, even drive hatred and mistrust.
Will this really make the world a better place? Or will it take the polarized and confrontational culture that has emerged online and spray it across the real world?’
With the rise of AR, this last bastion of reliable reality could completely disappear.
And when that happens, it will only exacerbate the social divisions that threaten us.
Though he warns about these many potential problems that have a great possibility to rise, he also notes some benefits these virtual reality integrations will bring; including faster and better surgery, gigantic revolutions in the entertainment industry, education, and especially the economy.
Nevertheless,
AR also will make us even more dependent on the insidious layers of technology that mediate our lives and the powerbrokers that control those layers.
This will leave us increasingly susceptible to manipulations and distortions by those who can afford to pull the strings.
If we are not careful now, AR could easily be used to fracture society, pushing us from our own information bubbles into our own custom realities, further entrenching our views and cementing our divisions, even when we are standing face-to-face with others in what feels like the public sphere.

There will be NO benefits to this metaverse, except for its handlers. This is the whole point of the metaverse: to takeover the masses’ minds and bodies, keep them locked into a grid system, and keep them preoccupied with a fake reality. They’d been feeling the heat since back around 2011 when all those autism docs & researchers were having accidents & suiciding, being murdered in robberies where nothing was stolen, etc. So many interconnecting layers, levels & webs of corruption, wickedness, extortion, deceit.
Sure, & there’s a spirit of delusion & one of pride, as well as covetousness, but here & there someone is truly waking up & asking the right questions, not turned from truth. Like Jacob & some others here.
Anyways, these things may have led to the powers that be jumping the gun with a desperate & extreme measure like the covid/vaccine scam ahead of schedule & before they really had ALL of their ducks in a row, realizing that people were catching on & likely to resist & hinder the implementation of their plan.
If the Lord allows this to move forward & us to go into it, then those not permitted internet access would be known at the least, & likely flagged by corporate State data sellers to the ‘good’, ‘obedient’ and ‘rewarded’ managing & higher classes. To those hooked in such people could easily be flagged as a heretic, a non-conformer, a wicked enemy of the people & selfish, a medically/nutritionally lobotomized ‘beta’/worker bee, untouchable caste, expendable ‘victim’ class, someone with an expired date & due for euthanasia, etc.
Think what the AI PriceFX would do to such people. On the way not only to transferring the wealth & price-fixing, but to floating a pricetag over such people for their ‘sale’ with no liability or accountability while the authorities look the other way, as the current trafficking taken to the next level. It would stand to reason that those with access will have to pay for ‘levels’ of access, or be ‘sponsored’ as the cartel & gangsters, I’m thinking. Somewhat like the hierarchical Babylonian initiation & sorting system currently works (& has always worked on a lower technological level), and/or according to a bestial ‘pecking order’, karmic survival of the fittest self-righteousness & self-justification for sinning against others.
So, those without the technology would not be able to ‘see’ what those hooked in will ‘see’.
