Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp all became unavailable to many of their millions of users across the world on Monday.
All three social media giants, owned and operated by Facebook Inc., based in Menlo Park, California, went off line at about noon Eastern Time.
We’re aware that some people are having trouble accessing our apps and products. We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible, and we apologize for any inconvenience.
One Facebook employee said it appeared to be a Domain Name System problem, the so-called “phone book” of the internet that computers use to look up individual websites.
I wish I knew. No internal tooling, DNS seems totally borked. Everyone is just sort of standing around. No reason at this point to suspect anything malicious but the outage is affecting pretty much everything. Can’t even access third-party tools.

The outage comes a day after Facebook faced allegations from a whistleblower that it turned a blind eye to disinformation that led to the deadly Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol.
“Facebook, over and over again, has shown it chooses profit over safety,” former Facebook data scientist Frances Haugen told CBS’s “60 Minutes” on an episode that aired Sunday night.
A Facebook spokeswoman, responding to the “60 Minutes” report, said the company has made “significant improvements to tackle the spread of misinformation and harmful content.”

ZeroHedge is reporting that Facebook employees were not able to get into the office to work because of glitches there as well, so there is a lot going on about the outage. And according to The Verge, they are now just coming back online at the time of this report.
There is a whole lot of hoopla surrounding this outage. Everyone under the sun is reporting on it: from the specifics why, to the memes on Twitter, and this apparent whistleblower over the ad nauseating Capitol riots excuse.
But I am mentioning this because I want to toss my hat in the ring and provide what I believe to be the REAL reason and significance behind this.
Regular readers probably know where I am going with this, but I have long been warning about staged and scripted power outages, hacks, malware threats, servers crashing, grid-down, internet implosions, and so forth. More and more of these so-called “glitches” keep happening, an they are happening on purpose. Now these – what I believe to no doubt be purposeful – outages are happening on much larger scales now. This time, these “glitches” and “lockouts” are happening to something that billions are connected to, and has become the “normal” for everyday life for most people. So now, this will rattle and frustrate common users and businesses.
Why the planned disruptions? It’s what I have said and explained many times over: Problem. Reaction. Solution. “They” create an artificial problem, wait for the faux reactions, and then swoop in with the planned solution.
And what is the solution? As I have reported various times, the elites want to usher in a new internet system, in tandem with their 6G, smart city, AI systems. But most people don’t want that, naturally. So, a planned and scripted crash WILL be coming, and as Klaus Schwab said (I’m paraphrasing), will make the Covid lockdowns look like child’s play. But, when this crash occurs and the addicted masses panic, and all hell breaks loose, the masses will flock to the newly presented system. Guaranteed. Right now, these social media outages are to plant these subliminal seeds in the masses’ minds, and to observe what kind of reaction it creates – a simulation of sorts.
