The decision was later reversed not long after the ruling due to backlash.

A Chicago, Illinois, mother – Rebecca Firlit – recently told local news that her parental rights were taken away by a judge in Cook County because she does not want to take a Covid-19 vaccine.

I miss my son more than anything. It’s been very difficult. I haven’t seen him since August 10th.

She told Fox 32 News

On the 10th, she and her ex-husband were in a court case via Zoom over child support. The two have been divorced for roughly 7 years, and share custodial and parenting time.

According to her account, Cook County Judge James Shapiro asked Firlit if she had been vaccinated. She told the judge that she has not due to reactions and adverse events for previous inoculations.

From there, Shapiro decreed that Firlit be stripped of all her parental time with her son until she gets vaccinated.

Since then, Firlit has only been able to talk to her son via video-chat or phone calls.

It had nothing to do with what we were talking about. He was placing his views on me. And taking my son away from me.

Firlit’s attorney, Annette Fernholz, says the judge has overstepped his authority.

In this case you have a judge, without any matter before him regarding the parenting time with the child deciding ‘Oh, you’re not vaccinated. You don’t get to see your child until you are vaccinated.’ That kind of exceeds his jurisdiction.

You have to understand the father did not even bring this issue before the court. So it’s the judge on his own and making this decision that you can’t see your child until you’re vaccinated.

Annette Fernholz

‘The attorney representing the father, Jeffrey Leving, says they were also surprised by the judge’s decision, but they support the ruling saying that given the pandemic, the child should be protected from an unvaccinated mother,’ says the local news report.

There are children who have died because of COVID. I think every child should be safe. And I agree that the mother should be vaccinated.

Jeffrey Leving

Leving said this move by Shapiro sets a new precedent that could potentially play out in other custodial cases.

Because of the on-going nature of the case, the spokesperson for Chief Judge Tim Evans and Judge Shapiro could not comment.

Overturned

On Monday, however, Annette Fernholz alerted Fox 32 News that the edict was overturned, and Firlit can now see her son again.

Judge Shapiro just issued an order vacating portions of his prior order of August 11th so Rebecca Firlit can see her son again.

I think there’s been a lot of media outcry. The divorce bar here in Illinois has been responding when they saw it on the news.

I was surprised but my reaction is I’m grateful.

Firlit said

But there’s more drama to the ruling: the attorney representing the 11 year-old boy, Michael Bender, said Firlit was acting “volatile” during the proceedings, and the judge used that question to cool the heat – who Bender said, “The judge needs to look out for the best interest of the child.”

He was seeing something that clearly said to him, ‘There is an endangerment to the child right now.’ And we’re gonna act on it.

Firlit denies the claims that her behavior had anything to do with Shapiro’s decision.

It definitely was not a reason to take my child away from me. I’m not an endangerment to him. Nothing was filed about that. Nothing that we were in the hearing for had anything to do with it.

Firlit’s attorney now fears that this move keeps the door open for the father to attempt to request that the son be taken away yet again. The father has not responded from calls from Fox 32 News.

Firlit would be allowed to see her son again as earlier as yesterday, Wednesday.

Hang that judge by his entrails! Throw the attorneys in the bunch too.

“That kind of exceeds his jurisdiction.” -Kind of?! What do you mean “kind of?” So what’s ‘totally exceeding his jurisdiction’ look like? Popping a cap in the mother? Is that next?

Nevertheless, this case I believe will indeed set a new precedent, for not just parental guidance in a divorce case, but just in general. For example, the state-ran and funded penitentiaries called “public school education” has LONG had in place mediums for children to report their parents and family to their teachers, counsellors, and deans; for anything under the sun that may be labeled as “child abuse.” Making a child eat his veggies instead of cookies can fall into this category if it is taken far enough. From there, the secret police and Child Protection Agency (CPA) can be brought in, and then the state owns the child at their discretion.

May this judge and all others that need to get punishment, get theirs.

[6] Break their teeth, O God, in their mouth: break out the great teeth of the young lions, O LORD. [7] Let them melt away as waters which run continually: when he bendeth his bow to shoot his arrows, let them be as cut in pieces. [8] As a snail which melteth, let every one of them pass away: like the untimely birth of a woman, that they may not see the sun. [9] Before your pots can feel the thorns, he shall take them away as with a whirlwind, both living, and in his wrath. [10] The righteous shall rejoice when he seeth the vengeance: he shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked. [11] So that a man shall say, Verily there is a reward for the righteous: verily he is a God that judgeth in the earth.

Psalms 58:6-11

[7] Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock? [8] Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also? [9] For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen? [10] Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope. (1 Corinthians 9:7-10).
