On Friday, Walt Disney and Walmart announced a new mandate for some of their employees to get vaccinated, another step forward as more companies are deciding whether or not to make vaccines compulsory.
By October 4th, all employees at Walmart’s headquarters and managers must be vaccinated, according to Chron.
Moreover, all employees (including those at Sam’s Club) will be required to wear masks in stores, warehouses, and distribution centers in areas deemed Covid hotspots, regardless of vaccination.
These new moves are aimed at trying to entice more workers for the company to get vaccinated.
However, this vaccine mandate does not yet include its frontline workers as the company claims vaccination rates are lower among them versus management. Though the managers only represent a tiny amount of their staff, the company hopes they will act as inspiration for more staff to get inoculated.
We’re hoping that will influence even more of our frontline associates to become vaccinated.
Scott Pope, spokesperson for Walmart
Pope did not provide the actual percentages for vaccination amongst their frontline workers compared to the company’s other staff.
Chron reports, ‘Walmart is also encouraging customers to wear masks in stores located in areas with surging cases and will be adding back signs at the entrances. It will also bring back so-called health ambassadors who will be stationed at the entrances and hand out masks.’
Furthermore, the company has also doubled their vaccine incentive bonuses from $75 to $150. Those who have already have been vaccinated will see an additional $75 on their checks dated for August 19th.
We continue to watch with deep concern the developments of the pandemic and the spread of variants, especially the delta variant. We know vaccinations are our solution to drive change. We are urging you to get vaccinated and want to see many more of you vaccinated.
Donna Morris, Walmart’s chief people officer, in a memo sent to employees that was shared by the company.
The virus is not over, and the delta variant has led to an increase in infection rates across much of the U.S.
Doug McMillon, president and CEO of Walmart Inc., sent in a memo to headquarters staff.
Pope did not state that office workers refusing the vaccine would be fired, but said they will be ‘working through the process.’ He noted some exceptions for those with medical reasons or religious convictions.
President of the retail research firm Retail Metrics, Ken Perkins, said this move by Walmart could serve as a “green light” to allow many more companies to follow suit.

Kroger also announced this past Friday that they will be encouraging customers and staff to wear a mask, even if they are vaccinated, though the vaccines will not be mandated they say.
Disney also announced a mandate, and theirs is stricter.
Salaried and non-union hourly employees in the United States will be required to get vaccinated. Workers that are working on-site who are not vaccinated must to do so in the next 60 days. All new hires must be vaccinated. Those that are working from home must also provide proof of vaccination before returning back to the jobsite. According to CNN, the company is also looking into mandating the vaccine for its unions they represent.
Employees who aren’t already vaccinated and are working on-site will have 60 days from today to complete their protocols and any employees still working from home will need to provide verification of vaccination prior to their return, with certain limited exceptions.
Vaccines are the best tool we all have to help control this global pandemic and protect our employees.
Disney said in a statement.

In the house of the righteous is much treasure: but in the revenues of the wicked is trouble.

And then people wonder why there is a labor shortage… Yes, there are other factors involved, no doubt, but this type of ridiculousness cannot be ignored: which all the so-called economists and politicians love to ignore.
It goes without saying that many more stores are going to cave into the masks in order to not lose sales. Give it a bit more time and they will start requiring vaccination proof at the entrances.
The CDC claims that there will be no new mask mandates, but we all know that that means there WILL be a mandate soon.
[7] Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock? [8] Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also? [9] For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen? [10] Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope. (1 Corinthians 9:7-10).
