The WinePress has been reporting on the grumblings and rumors of making the Covid-19 vaccines mandatory in the United States, with some in the mainstream media and other politicians considering those options.

Some businesses and other institutions have already been mandating the vaccine, such as the case with a Houston, Texas, hospital in June that required vaccination – resulting in some employee’s positions being terminated, resulting in a lawsuit and local residents coming to their aid.
Moreover, several weeks ago The WinePress reported that the U.S. Army will begin mandating the vaccine by September of this year. The National Football League (NFL) has also set a precedent for large private sector business by not explicitly calling the vaccines ‘mandatory,’ but having very strict policies put in place for those that do not get vaccinated, especially if there is an outbreak which will result in no pay for anyone and the infected team paying for the entire bill. This move warranted praise from Dr. Fauci.
Now more cities and states are making the vaccines mandatory.

Yesterday Yahoo News reported that all 115,000 frontline health care employees apart of the Department of Veterans Affairs to get vaccinated over the course of the next two months.
Whenever a Veteran or VA employee sets foot in a VA facility, they deserve to know that we have done everything in our power to protect them from COVID-19. With this mandate, we can once again make — and keep — that fundamental promise.

Earlier this month, the city of San Francisco announced that its city employees will be mandated to take a vaccine, according to Yahoo.
To protect the health and safety of all City employees and the public, the City has implemented a new Vaccination Policy.
The policy requires that all City employees: 1. Report their vaccination status, including verification documents, by July 29, 2021. 2. Be fully vaccinated and report that vaccination status to the City no later than 10 weeks after the Federal Food & Drug Administration (FDA) gives final approval to at least one COVID-19 vaccine. Per the July 8, 2021 Health Order, City employees working in high-risk settings are required to be fully vaccinated by September 15th, 2021, regardless of whether the FDA has given final approval to a vaccine by that date.

London Breed, the Mayor of San Francisco is urging small business to instigate their own mandates.
San Francisco is requiring City employees to be vaccinated in order to protect the public health of our employees and the residents we serve.
I applaud the businesses that are stepping up to do the same with their employees. We need widespread vaccinations to end this pandemic.
And some businesses are doing just that. The San Francisco Bar Owner Alliance, representing 500 bars, will require proof of vaccination or have negative results for a Covid test.
Emulating the city, Governor Gavin Newsom and the California state government announced that requires all public employees to provide proof of vaccination or be subject to weekly testing starting next week, August 2nd.
NEW: CA will have the strongest state vaccine verification system in the US and will require state employees & healthcare workers to provide proof of vaccination—or get tested regularly.

On the other side of the country, New York is imposing their own mandates as well.
Yesterday NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio announced that the Covid vaccines will be compulsory for all New York City municipal workers by mid-September, or be subject to weekly testing.
This mandate roughly effects 340,00 workers, including law enforcement and teachers, according to the New York Times.
September is the pivot point of the recovery.

A week ago de Blasio mandated that all public health care workers get vaccinated as well.
Governor Andrew Cuomo is also urging New Yorkers to get vaccinated, and in a speech yesterday, he raised a few eyebrows at how he wants more people to get vaccinated.
We have to get in those communities, and we have to knock on those doors, and we have to convince people, and put them in a car and drive them and get that vaccine in their arm. That is the mission.
White House Supports Mandatory Vaccination
Yesterday White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki told the press that the White House is in favor making vaccines mandatory for health care staff.
Psaki emphasized that is it just for health care workers, explaining that her and the Biden administration feels that they are the most at risk, so by making sure they are vaccinated, they and the community will lower the risk of infections.
I expect our own federal health care providers may look at similar requirements as they do with other vaccines.

None of this is much of a surprise: it was only a formality. Little bit, piece by piece, each week more and more of the governments and big business are pushing vaccines, or just flat out mandating them. So I suggest preparing accordingly. Your state could be the reddest of the red: that is totally irrelevant.
