Former Facebook VR Executive Says He’ll Turn U.S. Troops Into “Invincible Technomancers”

Former executive from Facebook who launched the Oculus VR headset, Palmer Luckey, founder of Anduril, has raised another $450 million in funding, which he says will be used to “turn allied warfighters into invincible technomancers.”

The company is now valued at $4.6 billion.

In 2014 Luckey sold Oculus for $2 billion to Facebook but was later fired in 2017 for his political donations and support of far-right groups. According to CNBC, the announcement for new funding is ‘unusual.’

CNBC writes, ‘Technomancers sometimes appear in post-modern role-playing video games and in science fiction, often as sort of magical wizard-like people with technology enhancements.’

Anduril Technologies’ develops and sells border control technology, which include things such as infrared sensors with cameras attached to towers, that additionally utilized artificial intelligence to track movements. Their devices are used in states such as Texas and California.

According to the company, Lattice, their AI platform, is utilized in other locations such as military bases in the states, ‘to help detect and track intrusions by other people and vehicles, including drones.’

Elad Gil, the man who provided most of the money for this round of funding, explained that our society is not prepared for the ‘growing number of threats’ such as cyberattacks or even weather disasters such as a hurricane – Anduril is said to help in these areas.

[Anduril provides] sensor networks, towers, drones, and powerful software that ties it all together — whose potential uses include protecting our troops on base, defending our energy infrastructure, combating wildfires, stopping human traffickers, creating a “virtual border” (a rare bipartisan idea), and fighting drug cartels. Many of these potential uses can directly save lives.

‘Other tech companies are working to make American troops more lethal. Microsoft, for example, won an Army contract in March worth up to $21.9 billion to provide special versions of its HoloLens augmented reality headsets to U.S. fighters,’ concludes the CNBC report.

No CNBC, it is not “unusual” for this company to receive more money so it can spy on and oppress its own people. Not that long ago the good-for-nothing American government just passed a bipartisan bill to bailout big-tech companies for hundreds of billions of dollars, in order to compete with China – which, as I explained in that report, is just s lousy excuse to say “we are going to fund more money to “protect” you from a crisis that we created, which involves watching your every step, and creating soldiers that can smash your face in.”
