Over the weekend, the Israel Defense Force (IDF) announced that it had launched strikes within Yemen against the Houthis, in a move that could signal another expansion of the conflict in the region and could entice other neighbors to weigh their options and get involved.

The Jerusalem Post first reported on Saturday:

IDF F-15, F-35, and other fighter jets carried out around ten airstrikes against Houthi military targets in the area of the Hodeidah Port in Yemen, according to a mix of IDF and foreign media reports Saturday evening.

Israeli airstrikes targeted oil refining facilities in Yemen’s Hodeidah as well as Yemeni air force assets to disrupt the transport of Iranian weapons to Yemen and reportedly killed and wounded dozens of people.

Although the Houthis try to present the port as humanitarian, multiple top Israeli officials said that it is a shield for mixing massive weapons imports in with humanitarian aid.

Local sources in Yemen told Hezbollah-affiliated Al Mayadeen that there are power outages in several areas in Hodeidah as a result of the Israeli strikes that hit an electricity production plant.

Israel’s Defense Ministry reported that discussions on approving the operational plans to strike in Yemen took place on Saturday morning under the lead of Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, alongside IDF Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi and other senior defense officials.

Al Mayadeen quoted a member of the Houthi’s Political Bureau, Mohammed Al-Bukhaiti, stating, “The Zionist entity will pay the price for targeting a civilian facility, and we will meet escalation with escalation.”

This attack came after the Houthis reportedly launched an attack that killed an Israeli in Tel-Aviv. The Times of Israel reported that same day:

Yemen’s Houthi rebels, another of Iran’s terror proxies avowedly seeking to destroy Israel, have been targeting the country since soon after Hamas’s October 7 invasion and slaughter. And Israel had elected not to strike back, even after a missile scored a direct hit on Eilat in March.

But in the early hours of Friday morning, an apparently upgraded Houthi drone evaded Israel’s defenses — for reasons thus far ascribed by the IDF to “human error” — and exploded in Tel Aviv, striking an apartment bloc and killing a 50-year-old Israeli, Yevgeny Ferder. The Houthis declared that this marked a “new phase” in their operations against Israel.

At this point, Israeli security chiefs are reported to have told cabinet ministers who gathered in an emergency session on Shabbat afternoon, restraint was no longer an option.

United Nations Chief Antonio Guterres shared his concerns with these events. According to a statement from his spokesman, he “is deeply concerned about the reports of airstrikes earlier today in and around the port of Hodeida in Yemen.”

“Israel has claimed responsibility for the strikes, noting that this is in response to previous Houthi attacks on Israel,” he said. ‘Initial reports indicate a number of fatalities and over 80 people injured in this attack and that there has been considerable damage to civilian infrastructure. The secretary-general calls on all concerned to avoid attacks that could harm civilians and damage civilian infrastructure.”

“[He] remains deeply concerned about the risk of further escalation in the region and continues to urge all to exercise utmost restraint,” the statement adds.

Since the war was launched on October 7th last year, the Houthis amplified their attacks in the region and vowed to disrupt international trade by targeting Israeli-allied vessels in the region, which The WinePress had reported a handful of times, pointing out the logistical problems, backlogs, and supply chain disruptions the Houthis were causing.

In April, a seldom mentioned report courtesy of the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) conceded that the Houthis were successful in setting out what they intended to do. The report found:

  • Container shipping declined by 90% since December 2023
  • Alternate shipping drips around Africa proved to be null, which added over 11,000 nautical miles of travel time, an extra 1-2 weeks of travel time and $1 million in fuel cost to a single voyage
  • Shipping insurance rocketed higher at 1000% because of associated “war risks”
  • Disruption of shipping in the Red Sea poorly impacts international logistics

AUTHOR COMMENTARY

I have said before that I don’t often report on Israeli and Middle East conflicts simply because they are grossly overblown and comically sensationalized by hype outlets and false prophecy ministries.

Note also that these attacks were carried out, once again, over the weekend. This is done not to upset financial markets during trading hours. It’s like clockwork.

But as the war drags on, Israel has failed to route out Hamas and so now it’s turning its sights elsewhere. Of course, Israel has absolutely no capacity to take on the rest of the allied Middle East, even with a ton of U.S. support, on top of the fact that especially since most active soldiers in Israel are getting tired from this prolonged war in Gaza, and that their economy is really starting to take a hit from this.

Mark 13:7 And when ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars, be ye not troubled: for such things must needs be; but the end shall not be yet. [8] For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows.

[7] Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock? [8] Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also? [9] For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen? [10] Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope. (1 Corinthians 9:7-10).

  • Sounds like they are desperately trying to time a big event. Could it be the destruction of temple mount???? Lol Israel is nowhere near dried up of funds, it’s richest ally (Vatican) has the deepest pockets since WWII. What’s on paper doesn’t reflect in reality.

When I look into what’s happening in the world God is there with me and discerning truth from lie.

I am grateful to be living in a time while these scriptures are being fulfilled as we read them off the pages entrusted unto us.

Salah to the Great and Almighty, I AM !

    • Me too! I’m also grateful to be living in these times and not just the last days, but the very last of the last days.

Things are going to get exciting and frightening at the same time.

Stay in the King James Bible, keep repenting, hand out Gospel tracts, recommend people to Born Again Barbarian and Winepress news, repent of sins, get sin out of our lives, and so forth – we don’t do them to be saved we do them because we are saved, and we’ll have lots of rewards in Heaven, too!
