Today it was announced that the Boy Scouts of America will officially be renamed as “Scouting America,” a major change to the organization’s 114-year history since it has been in existence.

The name change is ‘in an effort to become more inclusive,’ The New York Times reported.

In a press release, the now Scouting America expanded on why they are rebranding themselves:

The Boy Scouts of America today announced that it will rebrand to Scouting America, reflecting the organization’s ongoing commitment to welcome every youth and family in America to experience the benefits of Scouting. The change will go into effect on February 8, 2025, the organization’s 115th anniversary.

This announcement also comes as the organization celebrates the fifth anniversary of welcoming girls into Cub Scouting and Scouts BSA programs. Scouting America currently serves more than 176,000 girls and young women across all programs, including over 6,000 who have earned the rank of Eagle Scout.

“Though our name will be new, our mission remains unchanged: we are committed to teaching young people to be Prepared. For Life,” said Roger A. Krone, president and chief executive officer of Scouting America. “This will be a simple but very important evolution as we seek to ensure that everyone feels welcome in Scouting.”

Scouting America builds on the organization’s 114 years of helping America’s youth. Its ongoing goal is to provide young people with a safe environment where they can learn meaningful life skills and have fun, educational experiences, fostering their growth and future outcomes as leaders, and be prepared for life. At the same time, values instilled by the Scout Oath and Law help prepare young people for lives of purpose and impact.

More than 130 million Americans have been through Scouting programs since its founding in 1910, and currently, more than 1 million youth, including both men and women, are served by 477,000 dedicated adult volunteers in local councils throughout the country. To date, more than 2.75 million youth have earned Scouting’s highest rank of Eagle Scout.

In addition to supporting the nation’s youth, Scouting America will continue to be an important asset to strengthen our communities, having provided more than 7 million hours of volunteer services for community improvement and other projects across the country annually.

Scouting America provides a welcoming, safe environment where youth can become the best version of themselves by learning from and respecting each other. I encourage everyone to join us and experience the benefits of Scouting.

said Krone.

Additionally, the NYT noted that the club dropped the word ‘boy’ in 2018 from its namesake program to allow girls to join. Moreover, ‘In 2020, the organization announced a “diversity and inclusion” merit badge and made earning it a requirement for becoming an Eagle Scout. In 2013, it ended its longstanding policy of barring openly gay youths from activities,’ the paper noted.

The NYT added: ‘In February, the Supreme Court cleared the way for a $2.4 billion plan to settle sex abuse lawsuits against the Boy Scouts of America. The Boy Scouts settlement involves more than 82,000 claims of childhood sexual abuse.’

Separately, the Girl Scouts USA, a group that only accepts girls (or those who identify as one) allowed the young girls to earn a LGTBQIA+ ‘Fun Patch’ by attending Pride parades and other Pride-affiliated events. AUTHOR COMMENTARY

It was only a matter of time before this change was made, and is befitting as the Boy Scouts became synonymous and infamous for habitual cases of grooming and pedophilia, so you should not have been sending your boy there anyways as they continued to cover it up for years. Now it’s without question a no-go.

Same goes for Girl Scouts. Don’t let your daughter join them, and don’t buy their overpriced Thin Mints.

Parents, raise your children yourself and teach them these necessary skills. Quit passing your kids around like trading cards at recess and actually raise them. What a novel concept!

Proverbs 17:6 Children’s children are the crown of old men; and the glory of children are their fathers.

Ephesians 6:4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

[7] Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock? [8] Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also? [9] For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen? [10] Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope. (1 Corinthians 9:7-10).

  • Perfect statement, Jacob – “Parents, raise your children yourself and teach them these necessary skills. Quit passing your kids around like trading cards at recess and actually raise them.”

  • I’ve heard of problems with that organization since the late 1970s from former Boy Scout administrators. Rotten to the core by now and striving to become even more rotten.
