The Australian provincial government of New South Wales has recently debuted their new digital ID birth certificates, a fully digitized birth certificate that is created upon a child’s birth, or can be obtained upon request by a legal adult.
As the tech website Pymnts put it, “digital birth certificates are emerging as the latest addition to the digital identity landscape, offering a glimpse into the future of identification and authentication.”
According to an official page on the NSW’s website, the new IDs come in a verifiable, unique standalone ID, and is stored on user’s smartphones for easy access. It is simply known as the Digital Birth Certificate (DBC).
The DBC app contains liveness features to ensure authenticity (an animated leaf, a hologram effect and a timestamp) and refreshes constantly to demonstrate the certificate is current and valid. The timestamped PDF that the app generates is cryptographically signed, proving its validity when sharing to organizations.
Your digital birth certificate can also only be added to your account in the DBC app. Your account is secured with multi-factor authentication plus a 6-digit PIN and, if your device allows it, biometrics (Face ID / Touch ID).
The government says
The pilot program began on April 9th.
The Aussie paper The Mandarin reported: ‘With the same legal standing as the paper document, the introduction of the digital birth certificate opens opportunities for it to be used to help register a child in junior sport, get a unique student identifier number or apply for a loan.’
Pymnts also noted: ‘Furthermore, the interoperability of digital birth certificates holds promise for seamless identity verification across borders. When designed to adhere to standardized protocols, digital birth certificates could facilitate cross-border identity verification, streamlining travel for global citizens.’
Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages’ Theresa Fairman claims this option is a choice to accept.
Digital birth certificates will sit alongside the paper certificate, but provide customers with another option when they need to present this document.
Under legislation, the NSW Government has enshrined its equal legal status to the paper document, making it easier and more attractive for businesses and other government agencies to come on board and start accepting the digital birth certificate as part of a future rollout.
She said
Acting minister for customer service and digital government Penny Sharpe added that providing digitized birth certificates would offer more security to people residing in disaster-prone areas.
“The rollout of the Digital Birth Certificate is a milestone in the state’s journey to improving digital identity credentials,” she said.” This will be incredibly valuable in times of disaster, giving people one less thing to worry about if their physical birth certificate is damaged or destroyed.”
In the future, it could also be used for everything from school enrolments to passport applications, paving the way for secure and convenient digital solutions.
She added
The WinePress has noted across multiple reports that Australia is one of the leading nations trailblazing this new digital and cashless ecosphere. Just a little year ago NSW debuted their first iteration of their digital ID to the public.
The country as a whole is set to release their national ID later this year. This coincides with a bill the country’s Parliament passed last year that no longer requires tangible agreements and physical representatives to publish and sign physical documents, with digital verification such as digital IDs and biometric scans acting as an equal replacement.
AUTHOR COMMENTARY
Yeah, it’s a “choice” now because they’re just piloting it: how long before it becomes mandated? Australia is basically functionally cashless at this point, and banks there are not even giving out cash anymore, and most Australians are almost exclusively use digital for everything, so perhaps most of them will automatically sign-up and therefore does not need to be “mandated.”
As I have covered many times before, the digital IDs are necessary for CBDCs. These need to be there first. SEE: Must Read: Top Economist And Professor Reveals That Central Banks Want To Microchip People So They Can Administer CBDCs
In the grander scheme of it all, the digital IDs help to further build the brick road that snakes to the coming mark of the beast system.
Revelation 13:16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: [17] And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. [18] Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.
[7] Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock? [8] Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also? [9] For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen? [10] Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope. (1 Corinthians 9:7-10).

“Australians are basically stupid” – Paul Keating
Stupid is, as stupid does..!!
agree..you cant fix stupid.
When I contacted my member of parliament (the one one who would speak to me), she claimed that digital ID’s will only be used to achieve 100 points of ID, and she seemed to actually believe it.
Some people still wear face masks on the trains.
People at the shops and in my workplace are receiving their free flu vaccines as if Covid never happened, and drug companies can be trusted.
Despite being warned, my colleagues still can’t make the connection between working from home, and 15 minute cities.
Australia is the country that I grew up in…but no longer feel a part of.
Sounds like a spitting image of the U.S. where I live. What a joke our nations and people have become.
