Last week during a Tennessee Health Committee session, GOP state Representative Scott Cepicky introduced a bill that would seek to require some kind of labeling on any potential foods sold at stores that have been engineered with vaccine-related ingredients, particularly things such as mRNA.

Known as “TN HB1894,” or incredulously known as the “lettuce bill,” is a short, one-page legislature that “defines food that contains a vaccine or vaccine material as a drug for purposes of the Tennessee Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act. – Amends TCA Title 47, Chapter 18 and Title 53.”

Rep. Cepicky introduced this bill on February 21st, and received enough “I’s” to proceed forward in discussing enacting this bill into law. The full secession can be viewed on YouTube.

The bill is as follows:

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE:
SECTION 1. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 53-1-102(14), is amended by
designating the existing language as subdivision (A) and adding the following as a new
subdivision (B):
(B) “Drug” also means food that contains a vaccine or vaccine material;
SECTION 2. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 53-1-102, is amended by adding the
following as a new subdivision:
( ) “Vaccine or vaccine material” means a substance intended for use in
humans to stimulate the production of antibodies and provide immunity against disease,
prepared from the causative agent of a disease, its products, or a synthetic substitute,
treated to act as an antigen without inducing the disease, that is authorized or approved
by the United States food and drug administration.
SECTION 3. This act takes effect upon becoming a law, the public welfare requiring it.

During the hearing Cepicky said,

What I’m saying is there is no law deeming those, that when you go into a grocery store, you should know as a consumer this head of lettuce is a head of lettuce, the head of lettuce right next to it could contain a vaccine in it.

All we’re saying is, if it does have the vaccine in it, make sure it’s listed as a pharmaceutical so people can get the proper dosage.

Cepicky argued that researchers at the University of California (UC) Davis, and others, have perfected the ability of genetically engineering foods to have things such as mRNA in them, and therefore prompted him to introduce a bill to get ahead of this before such food enters market, if not perhaps already.

Committee chairman Johnny Ray Clemmons (D-Nashville) found this to be humorous and questioned the GOP Representative, saying, “I don’t think that’s allowed under state law presently. Are we going to have Walgreens pharmacists with a refrigerated section? I mean, how’s this going to play out?”

Cepicky said in response, “This is more of a consumer protection bill right here, it’s to make sure that if you’re going in to buy tomatoes and there’s a polio vaccine in there then you’re aware that what you’re buying has a polio vaccine,” he explained.

The problem you have is if it’s not treated as a pharmaceutical being the size and difference between you and me, how many tomatoes do I have to eat to get the proper dosage versus how many tomatoes you have to eat, and if you eat too many you get an overdose.

If you eat too less, like we had in the cattle industry with Aureomycin, dosing our cattle properly, and the horn flies were developing an immunity to it. If we don’t have the proper dosage of the vaccine it could lead to the efficacy of that drug not working anymore.

In 2021 The WinePress reported on Cepicky’s reference to the UC Davis study, which examined the possibility of putting mRNA in salads and other common foods to better treat disease that way instead of a needle.

Ideally, a single plant would produce enough mRNA to vaccinate a single person.

We are testing this approach with spinach and lettuce and have long-term goals of people growing it in their own gardens. Farmers could also eventually grow entire fields of it.

As the old saying goes, You are what you eat; and knowingly eating DNA-altering drugs and technology, among other things, is no bueno. We’ll have to see where this bill goes…

[1] When thou sittest to eat with a ruler, consider diligently what is before thee: [2] And put a knife to thy throat, if thou be a man given to appetite. [3] Be not desirous of his dainties: for they are deceitful meat. [6] Eat thou not the bread of him that hath an evil eye, neither desire thou his dainty meats: [7] For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee. [8] The morsel which thou hast eaten shalt thou vomit up, and lose thy sweet words.

Proverbs 23:1-3, 6-8

[7] Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock? [8] Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also? [9] For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen? [10] Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope. (1 Corinthians 9:7-10).
