Reno Satanic‘s Jason Miller led the short innovation during the Washoe County Commission meeting on Tuesday, January 16th, leaving many in the chamber shocked and caused one member to walk out before the invocation was finished. This is purportedly the first time such an invocation has ever been allowed in the state.
The ‘prayer’ lasted nearly two minutes, speaking of Lucifer and Satan throughout and peppered with some statements given in Latin. Miller spoke:
In the name of the eternal rebel against tyrannical authority, in the spirit of your nature of the natural world, the freedoms of thought and expression, unprejudiced intellectual inquiry, economics and social progress to bring influence and guiding actions of nobility and justice to the decisions made in this chamber today, to act with might and the undertaking of responsibility that may lay ahead of this body before us today.
The New Age is dawning that these decisions will play a role in. For our liberation, for here and now is our day of joy, here and now is our opportunity. May we seize this glorious day and its enchanting nights to celebrate the wonders of the natural world, as we are all part of its boundless mysteries. Hail, Satan!
Some retorted by shouting the name Jesus Christ in disgust and appalment after Miller finished.
Like most professing Satanic groups, Reno Satanic claims they are atheist and use Satan as a mascot. Their website states: “We do not believe in an actual Satan nor God. Many coming from a religious background or from the Western Tradition understand Satan as a symbol of rebellion against tyranny and the unjust. We value the idea of Satan in the sense of the Adversary.”
This Reno noted that ‘Reno Satanic has marched in the annual Pride parade and done outreach for those living unsheltered in the region.’

Washoe County traditionally has not had invocations but it was agreed upon last summer to start introducing them. It was introduced by Commissioner Clara Andriola and the rest of the Commission voted unanimously in favor. But ironically, it was Androila who stormed out of the room when this satanic prayer was read.
As Washoe County serves constituents of all faiths, and expresses no preference of faith, the resolution and corresponding report outlines a set of guidelines to provide an opportunity for representatives from the faith community to offer an invocation on a monthly basis. No invocation shall be used to lobby or request funding or support.
The Commission said at the time
The Commission was divided on the satanic invocation.
Andriola wanted to make it publicly clear that she did not appreciate this prayer and then requested that the rules be tightened. Nate Edwards of the district attorney’s office explained that “The federal law is that you don’t have to open your floor for invocations. If you do open your floor for invocations, then federal law is that you have to let everybody have a turn signing up. So I guess you take the good with the bad.”
He added that satanic invocations are part of a trend.
Commissioner Mike Clark corroborated with Edwards and stated:
Commissioner Andriola asked for the invocations and now we’ve got this unintended consequence. You’ll notice, she got up and left the room when this happened. The rest of us had to sit here and listen to that crap.
At the end of the day, my faith is stronger than that. He can say what he wants, but he’s not going to convert me to his program. But, as the district attorney Mr. Edwards said, when you open it up, this is what you get – so own it.
Former commission candidate and chief sheriff’s deputy Tom Green said afterwards he strongly disagrees with it, but it was “rather appropriate” because of the constant opposition against so many other things the county does.
We know there’s a struggle for the soul of this nation, a struggle between light and dark, a struggle between good and evil. This fight occurs at every level of the nation so why wouldn’t it be happening in Washoe County?

AUTHOR COMMENTARY
[2] For the transgression of a land many are the princes thereof: but by a man of understanding and knowledge the state thereof shall be prolonged. [4] They that forsake the law praise the wicked: but such as keep the law contend with them.
Proverbs 28:2-4
Indeed, this is a “trend” that we are seeing crop up more and more throughout the U.S., where the glorification of everything that is wrong and evil is on display.
The government can only do so much, and they should keep a hands-off approach. It is the duty of the PEOPLE to maintain the social standards, decency, righteousness, truth, and so forth. But when that falls apart then you get the government who has to legislate all this stuff; and it all snowballs and cascades downwards from there.
Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.
Proverbs 14:34
[7] Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock? [8] Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also? [9] For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen? [10] Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope. (1 Corinthians 9:7-10).

Howdy! This is kind of off topic but I need some advice from an established blog. Is it tough to set up your own blog? I’m not very techincal but I can figure things out pretty quick. I’m thinking about setting up my own but I’m not sure where to begin. Do you have any tips or suggestions? Thanks
