On Tuesday, December 5th, Montreal, Quebec, Canada, Mayor Valérie Plante collapsed on stage during a press conference, and was later transported to a hospital to be examined.

‘A spokesperson for the mayor confirmed to Global News the mayor was out of danger and will receive all the required medical support.’ Global News added, ‘Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was among those who replied and sent the mayor wishes for a quick recovery.’

In a statement on X, spokesperson for the Mayor said in French, “The mayor of Montreal suffered discomfort during a press conference and, fortunately, she is out of danger. She will receive all the required medical support and thanks you for your support.”

Plante then later wrote herself on X:

This morning, I felt uneasy during a press conference. Fortunately, I’m better. Thank you very much for your kind words and support. I was able to meet a medical team and I am doing well.

However, as a preventive measure and to fully get back into shape, I will have to reduce the pace of my activities in the coming days. I will also have to be absent from the Ville-Marie borough council meeting this evening.

Exceptionally, my elected colleagues in Ville-Marie will take over. I want to thank you very much for your support. I feel blessed to be so well surrounded. It warms my heart. THANKS, Valerie.

Many people online were quick to attribute this to the Covid vaccines causing these problems, (as can be seen in the comments in the linked videos above). The fact-checkers were then quick to disavow the theories that the vaccines were a probable cause.

Newsweek wrote yesterday:

“Montreal Mayor Valérie Plante just collapsed on live television,” @EndWokeness wrote on X, formerly Twitter, sharing the video of Plante falling down during a press conference on Tuesday. The replies to the post included many users asking if she received the COVID-19 vaccine and if that was the cause for her sudden collapse.

Jeckov Kanani, who has been an outspoken critic of Canada’s COVID response, posted a video of the mayor’s collapse on X, and encouraged people not to take the vaccine. He added that people shouldn’t get the booster, either. Others posted that this should be a “wake up call” and used the hashtag “vaccine side effect.” The Telegram account “Vaccine Injuries” also posted about the mayor’s collapse.

Plante confirmed in December 2021 that she was double vaccinated against COVID-19. Despite claims from social media users, Plante’s office confirmed to Newsweek that the sudden collapse was not due to the vaccine.

“After an assessment by a medical team, the mayor is doing well. She thanks the staff involved and all the words of support received today. As a precautionary measure following her illness, she will be reducing the pace of her activities over the next few days and will be absent from the Ville-Marie Borough Council meeting this evening. She will gradually resume her activities and thanks everyone for their understanding and support,” Plante’s spokesperson told Newsweek adding that the sudden collapse was “absolutely” not caused by the COVID-19 vaccine.

X user @BubbleBathGirl shared a photo of Plante receiving a vaccine and said, “Montreal Mayor Valérie Plante strongly backed mandatory vaccination for elected officials.”

In October, 2021, Plante mandated vaccination for all of the city’s elected officials and staff; and in October, 2023, the province of Quebec launched its annual Covid-19 and flu vaccine campaign, CTV News reported. ‘The Quebec government says it will open some 150 vaccination points of service,’ the Canadian paper added.

Ah yes, the gift that keeps on giving…

Woe unto the wicked! it shall be ill with him: for the reward of his hands shall be given him.

Isaiah 3:11

[7] Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock? [8] Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also? [9] For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen? [10] Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope. (1 Corinthians 9:7-10).
