In what is being considered as a national first, the Michigan state capitol has deployed an artificial intelligence-based system that detects if civilians are carrying a firearm when entering the building.
The Michigan State Capitol Commission unanimously voted to implement the weapons detection system in April, finally went live last week.
The technology is courtesy of ZeroEyes; which, according to American Military News, ‘If a gun is identified, those images would then be shared with ZeroEyes’ operation center. Staff, which the company states are either former U.S. military or law enforcement veterans, would then alert police both inside and outside Capitol grounds if the threat is deemed valid.’
Rob Blackshaw, executive director of the Michigan State Capitol Commission, said in a statement:
I want visitors and those that come to work here every day to understand that, irrespective of external circumstances, our building remains a secure haven, and ZeroEyes plays a pivotal role in ensuring that safety. The accuracy of its technology and proficiency of its staff are truly exceptional.
Mike Lahiff, CEO and co-founder of ZeroEyes, also chimed in, saying:
We are currently witnessing an alarming surge in political violence, and the Michigan State Capitol’s dedication to ensuring the safety of its staff and the community is commendable. ZeroEyes takes pride in being selected to help ensure safety in this important and historical building.
After the vote, WILX 10 reported in April: ‘The decision to enhance security was prompted by the event in 2020 when armed protestors stormed the state capitol, combating COVID restrictions,’ they wrote.
When we had that open carry day and we have all these people in here with guns lining up in front of the house chamber a row of state police officers and a row of people carrying guns facing off at each other.
One little mistake could have set off a massacre, I think. And then seeing things all across the country. It’s too bad, I hate doing this, this building’s been wide open forever but it’s time, it’s the time we’re in. We have to protect people.
Even people working here, it’s going to be inconvenient because it’s going to be less doors you can go in and out of, it’s going to be inconvenient to come in and out of the buildings at times. Hopefully, overall people will understand they’re going to be more safe while they’re on their jobs or visiting.
William Kandler, the Chair of the Michigan State Capitol State Commission, acknowledged that responses to the new security measures would be mixed, but he is hopeful that people will understand the necessity of these measures, especially in the current social climate.
In June, cited by WSBT 22, Kandler explained how precise the sensory is:
It can detect any kind of like a plastic gun, something made with a printer, all kinds of weapons that can be detected beyond metal.
As much as I do not like the idea of having to limit access to the building, we know the reality of the world today is that we have to do it, we have to keep people safe.
WSBT 22 added: ‘For buildings in the state capital housing the governor’s office, state agencies, or the House and Senate offices, there is some level of security, from sergeants on guard to metal detectors, that is required before entering. While the state Capitol has security measures in place, many have only been implemented in recent months or years.’
AUTHOR COMMENTARY
Michigan today, the rest of the country tomorrow.
Before too long these systems will expand into all public facilities, and then eventually when you go for a Sunday stroll exercising your right to concealed carry and self-defense.
Remember when the politicians and the media sold everyone that these ‘minor inconveniences’ to your freedom was just temporary? Unsurprisingly at all, they stuck and got worse, as does anything the government always implements and never gets rescinded.
[17] As for us, our eyes as yet failed for our vain help: in our watching we have watched for a nation that could not save us. [18] They hunt our steps, that we cannot go in our streets: our end is near, our days are fulfilled; for our end is come. Lamentations 4:17-18
[7] Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock? [8] Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also? [9] For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen? [10] Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope. (1 Corinthians 9:7-10).

Arm yourself, get a concealed or open carry license, and I pray the rest of the nation follows this: if these devils ask for your guns, give them the bullets first!
Anybody who thinks gun control works needs to read a history book!
1000% right on, arm to the teeth and NEVER give your guns to the government, death before surrender.
YES we went there!!!
