The latest Israeli conflict continues to expand and heat-up, with the mainstream media and the Pentagon reporting that several U.S. bases in Syria have been attacked by Iranian-backed forces in recent days.
Some U.S. bases have already been attacked last week, The WinePress reported, as explained by Pentagon Press Secretary Air Force Brigadier General Pat Ryder in a press conference.
Yesterday Fox News ran a headline that reads: “Iran-backed militias in Iraq claim responsibility for attack on US military base in Syria.” The Associated Press provided a short update:
Iran-backed militias in Iraq say they attacked two US bases in eastern Syria, their fourth attack in one day.
The Islamic Resistance in Iraq, an umbrella group of Iranian-backed militias, says two drones attacked US military bases by the Al-Omar oil field in Deir el-Zour province and in al-Shaddadi further north. Officials in Washington do not immediately comment on the attack.
The attack comes hours after the group claimed responsibility for drone attacks on the al-Tanf garrison near the Jordanian and Iraqi borders, and a stone’s throw away from the desert Rukban camp home to tens of thousands of Syrians.
There have been a string of similar attacks on US bases in Iraq and Syria over the past week. In one attack, the same group attacked two US bases in Iraq with drones, causing minor injuries among US forces.
Yesterday during a press conference touting “Bidenomics,” President Joe Biden had to make an abrupt ending near the completion of his speech, he said, “I have to go to the situation room. There’s an issue I need to deal with,” Biden blurted out.” It could be possible that Biden had to leave because of the reported strikes attributed to Iran.
These latest attacks on the U.S. bases were raised during another press conference with Mr. Ryder.
When asked what the possible intent of these attacks were, whether to kill or send a message, Ryder answered,
I’d have to refer you back to these Iranian-backed groups. You know, it’s not the first time we’ve seen these kinds of attacks, and as you know, in the past, we’ve decided to respond at a time, a place of our choosing, you know, when and if we want to do that, but in terms of their motivation, I’m not going to speak to that.
When asked by other press reporter about a link to Iran, Ryder opened up and did attribute these attacks to Irani-backing.
We know that these groups are groups that are backed by Iran. We don’t necessarily see that Iran has explicitly ordered them to take these kinds of attacks. That said, by virtue of the fact that they are supported by Iran, we will ultimately hold Iran responsible.
And so again, we’re going to continue to do what we need to do to protect and safeguard our forces and take all necessary measures. As I highlighted, and I want to emphasize this, no one wants to see a wider regional conflict, but we will not hesitate to protect our forces.
The General explained
Ryder was then asked do define “explicit,” for which he said, “We haven’t seen a direct order, for example, from the Supreme Leader saying “go out and do this.””
Nearing the latter half of his press release, one press reporter asked, “you talked about moving all these assets for force protection, I’m just wondering do you have evidence of increased capability from these, as you’re saying, Iranian-backed groups or is it just a – an uptick in the frequency that you’re concerned about?”
Ryder answered with:
No, I think – I think we are concerned about escalation based on, you know, you’ve seen several groups throughout the region publicly say, “Hey, you know, if there is a ground incursion, we are going to scale up our attacks.”
So broadly speaking, again, you know, we recognize the fact that – or the potential for an increased escalation and we want to do everything we need to do to ensure force protection for our troops while also, at the same time, deterring a broader regional conflict.
AUTHOR COMMENTARY
This is more political double-speak from a pseudo-politician. Any movement from the United States IS an escalation: that’s how every other country sees it and will see it, especially if they are in the Middle East or allies with them. If you want de-escalation, then don’t make this our problem in the first place!
He that passeth by, and meddleth with strife belonging not to him, is like one that taketh a dog by the ears.
Proverbs 26:17
We only know what the media tells us and let’s us know; and I for one never trust a word they say. Nevertheless, truth or lies, if Iran gets involved and/or the U.S., either directly or through Israel, World War III would truly begin, in my opinion, and it would obviously not be good for anyone…
[7] Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock? [8] Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also? [9] For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen? [10] Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope. (1 Corinthians 9:7-10).
