First reported by The Wall Street Journal, even though the mothers tried to explain their reasoning, the Lebanon R-III School District officials referred them to state prosecutors. The handbook for Missouri district states that students must maintain a 90% school attendance rate.
The family’s attorneys said that a mandatory education law concerning attendance on a “regular basis” is unconstitutionally vague, and argued that the mothers were not told that sick days are seen as unverified absences without a doctor’s note, even when a parental guardian alerts the school.
You all have had kids in school. Nobody thinks that they are going to be prosecuted for this.
Ellen Flottman, an appellate public defender who argued for the mothers before the state Supreme Court, said

But the courts did not show any favoritism and upheld the standing law.
No Missouri parent would conclude attendance ‘on a regular basis’ means anything less than having their child go to school on those days the school is in session.
[The court is] bound by its duty ‘to ascertain the intent of the legislature from the language used and to consider the words used in their plain and ordinary meaning.’ Judge Robin Ransom, who wrote the court’s decision, said that schools do not need to uphold truancy cases. Five Supreme Court judges sided with Ransom, and another judge did not cast a judgment
Madeline Sieren, a spokeswoman for the attorney general’s office, said, “we’re pleased with the Court’s decision, as it recognized the importance of education for Missouri’s children.”
According to Missouri state law, school attendance is compulsory.
Section 167.031, RSMo, states that any parent, guardian or other person having custody or control of a child between the ages of seven (7) and the compulsory attendance age for the district, must ensure that the child is enrolled in and regularly attends public, private, parochial, home school or a combination of schools for the full term of the school year.
- The term “compulsory attendance age for the district” shall mean seventeen (17) years of age or having successfully completed sixteen (16) credits towards high school graduation in all other cases.
- Children between the ages of five (5) and seven (7) are not required to be enrolled in school. However, if they are enrolled in a public school their parent, guardian or custodian must ensure that they regularly attend.
‘More than 40 states have truancy statutes under which students or parents can be penalized, with punishments including fines or jail time, taking away driver’s licenses, or being referred to child welfare agencies,’ Newsmax.

I don’t think I need to tell you just how disgusting and ridiculous this is. Though it appears in Missouri it is not quite an option, parents need to keep their children out of these places. I say it all the time and I am very passionate about this, because the public schools are the one biggest sources of evil in this country and is a big reason why it is the way that it is; and yet it continues to be this “great mystery” as to how ‘Sweet little Johnny’ got screwed-up and turned into a mischievous, amoral, loser.

About a month and a half ago, a brother told me that VERY DANGEROUS legislation was either before the courts or was already passed in Quebec. I’m paraphrasing: The unvaxxxed will be arrested, taken to court, and given one more chance to take all the “medical procedures”. Failure to do so will send that person immediately to the interment / extermination camps. As Dr. Jordan Peterson said last evening, “The courts are stacked” against the little people. It’s now a crime if the children missed a day or two of indoctrination! There is NO Missouri law that stipulates mandatory attendance to any public school.
I know better. My youngest son is autistic. We sought to remove him from public school because they were NOT serving his needs whatsoever. My wife and I checked every book in the library concerning Missouri law and any mandatory requirements concerning attendance. There were none. We promptly gave them notice to the fact, and NEVER heard from them again.
So either, there is far more to this story than what is being told… Or, it’s just another journalistic piece of propaganda.
If your child is enrolled in public school, then regular attendance is required. The law is in the article above. You can however, homeschool or ‘unenroll’ your child in Missouri.
