A recently leaked draft document reveals that the EU is considering proposals to allow more wiggle room for genetically modified organisms (GMO) crops and foods, citing claims of trying to deal with climate change.
Many European nations have long forbade using GMOs in many instances, along with banning a multitude of artificial and synthetic chemicals, ingredients, pesticides and the such like. But as The WinePress reported last year, coupled with supply chain conundrums, crop failures and droughts, and the Russia-Ukraine conflict creating a major rift in commodity and fertilizer exports; experts and the media used this opportunity to heavily push moving away from organic husbandry and instead embrace gene-edited crops – plants and grains that are weather resistant, can self-produce vitamins without sunlight, non-molding, and so much more.
Now it appears the EU is actually seriously looking more closely into this venture.
The Genetic Literacy Project these documents on June 16th. Around the same time the German paper Der Spiegel reported this:
It is not known at this time. However, opponents of the reform proposal will likely benefit from its release. Rejectionist NGOs now have sufficient time to mount an offensive to force changes in this draft document by watering down the deregulation plan or have it killed altogether.
Specifically, they are likely to lobby for a full evaluation requirement rather than the notification procedures recommended by the Council. They will also push for mandatory traceability rather than treating products of most New Genomic Techniques (NGTs) as similar to conventional foods, therefore not requiring traceability. That would give advocacy NGOs more opportunities to block, delay, litigate, etc.
The draft specifies that if passed it would allow for the use of CRISPR-edited crops to be planted and cultivated for consumption, and be viewed as ‘conventional,’ thus creating a new category separate from the traditional GMOs
Apparently the push for this is due to climate change fears.
The science and the evidence show that these can be achieved also through conventional breeding of crops.
The economic rationale is very strong. If we want to cope with climate change and support food security we need these techniques.
An EU official told the Financial Times in a statement
Some advocacy groups have already stated that they will try to fight and bring awareness to this.
The EU’s top court was clear that GMOs by another name are still GMOs. The EU must keep new GMOs regulated to make sure they pose no danger for nature, pollinators or human health.
Eve Corral of Greenpeace told the FT.
The United States has already begun to embrace gene-spliced and CRISPR-edited foods, such as the case with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approving the sale of CRISPR salads for consumption, courtesy of Pairwise; or the FDA’s approval of gene-edited sausages labeled “safe for human consumption.”
Meanwhile countries like Russia have done the opposite and have explicitly stated that they do not want to go the way of Western Europe and the United States, instead going all organic with very little wiggle room.
AUTHOR COMMENTARY
I recommend going back and reading that report I wrote just a little over a year ago, “As Media Declares “Global Hunger Crisis” Media Blasts Organic Farming, Looking To Implement Gene-Edited Foods,” because it provides further context to this move; as the media publications were already prophesying this formality.
[7] Two things have I required of thee; deny me them not before I die: [8] Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me: [9] Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is the LORD? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain. Proverbs 30:7-9
We have zero evidence and data whatsoever to see what the health effects are of these gene-edited crops, both to us, livestock, and the environment; though I’m not waiting to see any because I will not be eating this mad scientist “food.” The studies will only be allowed to be publicized years after the fact they are made mainstream.
As long as the people of the world continue to remain ignorant, complacent, docile, fickle, and proud, all this stupid neo-liberal garbage will continue to be pushed; and by the time a total revolt occurs it will have already been too late.
[7] Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock? [8] Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also? [9] For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen? [10] Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope. (1 Corinthians 9:7-10).

The wicked screw with everything natural, just like they do with so called “better translations of the KJV” plain and simple is not good enough for such “highly advanced society”; actually an retarded society if ya ask me
