We are scanning the globe on finding technology that will ensure this city is safe for New Yorkers, visitors and whomever is here in the city. This is the beginning of a series of rollouts.
I believe that technology is here; we cannot be afraid of it. A few loud people were opposed to it, and we took a step back — that is not how I operate. I operate on looking at what’s best for the city.
Adams said
As The New York Times explained, ‘There were two security robots that onlookers compared in appearance to R2-D2 from “Star Wars” or a Dalek from “Doctor Who,” as well as a gun-shaped device that police officers can use to shoot GPS-enabled trackers onto fleeing vehicles. Then there was the return of Digidog, a robotic dog to be used in life-threatening police situations.’
Adams added that the “Digidog is out of the pound.”
In a Twitter post via the NYC Mayor’s office, Adam’s administration wrote:
The Future of Public Safety is NOW:
🐕Digidog is a RC K-9 robot for use in assessing hazardous situations
🚙StarChase pilot will test a projectile that attaches a GPS-enabled device to stolen or ghost vehicles
🚨K5 ASR pilot will help conduct automated patrol in confined areas
‘New York City will be acquiring two robot dogs for a sum of $750,000. Officials said the dogs would not be used for routine patrol, but rather for life-threatening situations, including bomb threats. The robotic dog on display in Times Square was borrowed from the Fire Department, which has been deploying robot dogs for about a year,’ The NYT added.
Police commissioner Keechant Sewell said that Digidog neither the K5 would be programmed with facial recognition capabilities.
The city also announced that they will be trialing ‘the use of StarChase’s Guardian HX, a handheld or car-mounted launcher that shoots GPS tracking tags onto vehicles to track them during car chases. There’s also the K5 ASR, a machine from a company called Knightscope that’s described as a “fully autonomous outdoor security robot,'” The Verge reported.
There was some backlash however:
The NYPD is turning bad science fiction into terrible policing. New York deserves real safety, not a knockoff ‘RoboCop.’ Wasting public dollars to invade New Yorkers’ privacy is a dangerous police stunt.

Lo, this only have I found, that God hath made man upright; but they have sought out many inventions.
Ecclesiastes 7:29
What could go wrong?
Indeed, whether you like it or not (I certainly don’t), Adams is correct: this is the new wave of technology that is coming and is here to stay, especially since crime continues to rise; and the city is losing police left and right due to how the city is run, and the immense corruption there.
[7] Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock? [8] Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also? [9] For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen? [10] Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope. (1 Corinthians 9:7-10).

Incrementalism, British Fabians at work for over 100 years. Slowly bit by bit the evil is ramped up. Strategy: do a LITTLE then wait……..the public gets used to it.. Do a little MORE: public adapts. End stage:FULLY ARMED ROBOTS whose AI can decide to shoot and kill and no more human cops. Don; think for a SECOND that the Terminator movies were just cooked up from someone’s imagination….all by design
i can foretell trouble in every aspect and perceive more problems than solutions with todays hackers. this is gaslighting an already problematic situation. first, they must accomplish hacking control before even thinking about this.
Such a premature rookie mistake.
