The following report is from the Trends Journal,

Shipley Do-Nuts, a Houston-based coffee and pastry chain of about 300 stores in the southern U.S., has been bought by Peak Rock Capital, a private equity firm headquartered in Austin.

The purchase includes the Shipley Franchise Co. and the Shipley Do-Nut Flour & Supply Co. The price and terms of the deal were not made public.

Shipley was founded in 1936 as a wholesale supplier, selling a dozen donuts for five cents.

Shipley’s acquisition is among 25 buyouts Peak Rock has completed in recent years with local and regional family-owned companies, including Louisiana Fish Fry and Natural American Foods.

They then give their additional commentary,

TRENDPOST: We continue to note these buyouts and acquisitions to illustrate how the COVID War will push more small businesses out of business, how the Bigs will get bigger, and the concentration of wealth will grow greater among the few.

I am reporting on this because, as the Trends Journal has been pointing out throughout the course of 2020 and into 2021, that if these small companies and businesses do not go completely out of business for good, a bigger company, corporation, franchise, firm, investor, etc; will come in and buy up these assets for pennies on the dollar.

As The WinePress has repeatedly reported on, this new fascist two-tiered soceity continues to manifest itself. If the smaller competition was not destroyed, they will simply be bought up and/or zombified. The big boys (and gals) keep getting bigger and richer. And even if these businesses are not hurting as much, those that are higher up on the totem poll who have the funds (and additional gains from this year of being apart of the big boys), will continue to increase their net worth and control of the economy.

I remember in 2020 a lot of smaller oil manufacturing companies were going under do to low demand and prices, so the much bigger companies swooped in and purchased them – strengthening the oil monopolies, for example.

Be wary of this continued trend.

  • I’m just saying not trying to be off topic, at least Shipley’s, Dunkin, Tim Hortons, etc., isn’t offering their lame perks for getting the, y’know, the jabarooney, like krispy krap is.
But yes, on topic, this trend is somewhat worrisome even though I don’t fully understand it.
