In preparation for the strong possibility that China could eventually declare war on Taiwan and attempt to siege the island nation that they claim belongs to them, the United States has announced that they will be sending roughly between 100-200 troops to Taiwan to train the soldiers to fight back against China. Taiwan has likewise agreed to send 500 soldiers of their own to American soil to be trained to defend their land.

This announcement was revealed several days ago by The Wall Street Journal, quoted by anonymous military officials. Up to this point the U.S. reportedly only had 39 personnel commissioned in Taiwan, including 23 active-duty from the four military branches, per a report by the U.S. Defense Manpower Data Center (DMDC).
The officials clarified that this was not in response to the surveillance drama that proliferated the headlines for most of February, but that this deployment had been “planned for months” to help increase Taiwan’s defenses against China.

Grant Newsham, a former U.S. Marine colonel and diplomat, responded to the news stating,
This is a good development. Even 100 or 200 troops can have a positive effect on Taiwan’s military if they are properly deployed.
Taiwan’s military needs as much direct exposure to other militaries as possible as it has been isolated for over 40 years and its capability development has languished as a result.
Newsham said, who reportedly spent a whole year studying Taiwan’s defense in 2019, adding that he thinks both militaries should work on a joint operation planning “for future contingencies.”
In a statement to Radio Free Asia Newsham added that there’s “also a psychological aspect” as the U.S. new deployment would bolster confidence “with the military, the government, and the public at large.”
This matters as much as new tactics, techniques, and procedures the military might learn. Never overlook the ‘mental’ aspects of a national defense.
He added
RFA wrote: ‘By law, Washington is obligated to help Taiwan to strengthen its defenses but every movement is being closely watched by Beijing, which considers Taiwan a Chinese province and threatens to take it back by force if needed. According to the Wall Street Journal, U.S. officials were apparently mindful of possible reactions from Beijing when they said that it’s “a question that is constantly being evaluated and looked at specifically with every decision involving support to Taiwan.”’
In response to this admission Newsham said,
This is worrisome. It suggests that American support for Taiwan is still handcuffed by fear of the Chinese Communist Party.
If America indicates it will back down if seriously pressured by Beijing, China will have the advantage, and is far more likely to use force against Taiwan.
Solider Swap
At the same time Taiwan is planning to send 500 of their own troops to the U.S. to be trained and strengthen their combat skill in anticipation for a war with Taiwan. Taiwan has sent smaller amounts of troops to the U.S. before but this is the largest deployment so far.
South China Morning Post wrote: ‘A joint combined arms battalion – with troops mainly from the army’s 333rd Mechanised Infantry Brigade and 542nd Armour Brigade – will travel to the US in the second half of the year, according to Taiwan’s semi-official Central News Agency.’
This marks the first time troops at battalion level, typically consisting of around 500 soldiers, will travel to the US for training – rather than platoon (25-60 troops) or company (80-150) level as in the past.

Another source from the Taiwanese military added,
Trump signed a number of bills that were friendly to Taiwan, including the Taiwan Travel Act which promotes all levels of exchanges.
The National Defence Authorisation Act for Fiscal Year 2018 specifically encourages exchanges of defence officials and military officers for the purposes of training and coordination, in addition to exchanges of senior military leaders.
Usually, plans like this would remain hush-hush – to prevent drawing the ire of the Chinese communists.
But with US-Taiwan relations becoming more solid and US-China rivalry intensifying, sometimes exposure of these activities is done intentionally to show the close cooperation and partnership between the US and Taiwan.
The navy, air force and the army have all sent officers and soldiers to the US for training to acquire operational skills after we took delivery of US weapon systems, such as Kidd-class destroyers and Knox-class frigates and Patriot anti-missile systems.
But the number of personnel was limited to the size of a platoon [25-60] or at most the company level [80-150]. This is the first time a battalion level [usually 500-700 personnel] will be sent.

[7] And when ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars, be ye not troubled: for such things must needs be; but the end shall not be yet. As I have said before, at this point I would just assume that the U.S. is going to get involved with China per sending endless weapons and junk to Taiwan, similar to what they are doing with Ukraine.
The media machine has already been greasing the wheels of the masses trying to get them to think a U.S.-led coalition will stymie China, which to me is just hilarious; but like I said, they are trying to get the masses ready for a new Ukraine.
Wherefore, if this turns into another Ukraine ordeal, then you can expect the U.S. to levy all sorts of restrictions against China, which will only backfire like Ukraine and hurt us instead. When Trump was President and he was “making deals” with China, all it really did was hurt us because we rely on China for most of our stuff, so it drove prices up and created lapses in imports, which forced the U.S. to ramp-up the trade deficit by working with other countries; while China just further strengthened their relationships with Russia and BRICS.
All China has to do is shutdown the factories for a very short window and the U.S. will go into a tailspin of famine and pestilence.

For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope. (1 Corinthians 9:7-10).
