Nearly over 1.5 million or so Brits face being fined and slapped with a criminal record for using their wood-burning stoves per a new law that took effect to reduce emissions in the country.
Leeds Live says that a new regulation recently came into effect that instructs residents to follow a new set of clean air regulations and exemptions to make sure these wood-burners meet code for use.
The Times confirms that Brits who fail to meet these new rules will be issued a £300 ($366.70) fine, which can extend up to £1,000 ($1222.34), and such an offence will be adding to the offender’s criminal record.
Repeat offenders could be sent to criminal court, and charge an additional £5,000 ($6111.69) – with an extra £2,500 ($3055.84) each day the law is broken, LBC adds.
In England you may have to pay a penalty of up to £300 if your local council decides your chimney releases too much smoke. You can be fined up to £1,000 if you burn unauthorised fuel without an exempt appliance.
The government announced
The new laws enforce what type of logs can be burned and what can be put in the burner, basing it on new research that suggests that 50% of people’s exposure to cancer-causing chemicals found in the air in urban areas, which are purportedly caused by the wood stoves. Newer wood stoves must also meet new some arbitrary code for use. The government also claims that the wood stoves contribute to 38% of particulate matter air pollution, they allege based on their findings.
Also, a ban has been placed on the production of older models prior to 2021. ‘New regulations mean that all new wood-burning stoves and multi-fuel stoves and fireplaces will have to meet strict new ‘Ecodesign’ guidelines,’ Daily Mail adds.
On top of this, only 3g of smoke will be allowed to be released, down from the previous 5g allowance.

The phasing out of wood and gas burners and stoves are nothing new, as they are part of longstanding climate goals, and instead go ELECTRIC. Why? So they can track and control everything you do.

Therese Coffey? Are you kidding me? Is this another he/she? I wonder what kind of emissions come out of that lumbering big bertha? This ploy seems to be just another example of igniting the right while making money from the CO2 fines that will most likely be used in part to shore up the royals and their expensive lifestyles. If Ms. Coffey would take a deep breath and hold it in until he/she/it collapses, a significant portion of CO2 could be scrubbed so everyone in the realm could use a wood burning stove without “environmental damage”.
