Pornography is now the second most common addiction men seek therapy for behind alcohol, officials at UKAT say.

The following report is by Study Finds:

The number of people seeking professional help for porn addiction has tripled since the start of the pandemic, according to new figures.

In the United Kingdom alone, a study finds more than 36,000 people sought support for porn addiction with UK Addiction Treatment Group (UKAT) — Britain’s biggest private rehab provider — in 2021. This is up from around 10,500 in 2020, a rise of nearly 250 percent.

The proportion of women seeking help rose from 25 percent to 38 percent during this period. Major cities like London, Birmingham, Manchester, Bristol, and Leeds had the highest figures in the country. However, nearly all areas covered in the UKAT data saw their numbers at least double.

With that in mind, the company says they can no longer meet the demand for therapy.

What Does Porn Addiction Look Like?

One patient, “Tom,” told BBC Radio Newcastle he spent over $124,000 on a cocaine and pornography addiction and was watching sex videos for up to 15 hours a day.

Once I got cocaine I just had to watch porn for that rush. It really affects your libido in real life, sometimes nothing happens because you’re so anxious.

It affected me being with women, because I was so used to watching porn. Addiction is a disease, it’s an illness. I was just a mess, just absolutely broken. One night I spent £2,000 in lockdown on escorts and cocaine – that was my worst night but over the years it’s well over £100,000 on the drugs and porn.

The patients says, according to a statement from SWNS.

The figures in the new study relate to the number of people visiting support pages for porn addiction on UKAT’s website during 2020 and 2021.

Excessively Watching Pornography Is More Common Than You Think

Pornography is now the second most common addiction men seek therapy for behind alcohol, officials at UKAT say.

The first thing I say to clients is that this is not always about sex, this is about learning how to deal with emotions in a way that is less destructive.

Availability of this material that allows people to create a stimulus that creates dopamine in the brain, one of the effects of that is to suppress feelings. We can offer a small amount of help but in no way can we meet demand.

UKAT Director Simon Stephens tells SWNS.

UKAT, which treats over 3,000 people at its clinics every year for a variety of addictions, says increased time in isolation during the pandemic fueled several types of online addictions, including pornography.

Self-isolation and restrictions had a big impact on people, on their well-being and mental health and we can’t lose sight of that, living on fear and uncertainty sees addictions grow – and porn for some was a coping mechanisms, especially as couples in some cases, could not be together with space for intimacy.

Nuno Albuquerque, a treatment consultant from UKAT, tells SWNS.

AUTHOR COMMENTARY

On top of this pornography pandemic already being a major problem in general, then you had health bodies and universities telling people to ‘pleasure themselves’ while in isolation, or do that as a way to avoid physical contact as to not contract and spread Covid.

Yet another canary in the coalmine that Western civilization has been reduced to nothing more than a bunch of godless perverts and heathen that cannot control themselves.

[3] For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication: [4] That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour; [5] Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God: [6] That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified. [7] For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness. [8] He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given unto us his holy Spirit.

1 Thessalonians 4:3-8

[7] Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock? [8] Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also? [9] For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen? [10] Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope. (1 Corinthians 9:7-10).

  • I have blocked porn and I am avoiding it like the plague because I’d rather have a good woman my age who desires true repentance and the King James Bible than a bunch of air brushed whores.
I’ve repented of pornography and I’ve repented of the strip club life which is a miserable existence that bleeds you of your money and causes a bevy of problems physical and mental and also, deep in the comer pockets of those places, the worst types of perverts lurk underneath.

    • *Deep in the corner pockets of these so-called gentlemen’s clubs (no, they’re pervert clubs) the worst types of perverts are lurking underneath. The thing that scared me straight and glory to God for it, is that there’s also child sex predators as well as rapists who frequent strip clubs and porn sites, and that scared me straight!

  • Can’t say I’m too surprised, people being locked in, nothing to do but watch tv all day, (I know there is more to do actually but that’s the mentality it seems,) observing all of the provocative ads, dress code, scenes, it’s not too surprising that pornography addiction has became an issue. Especially when all of the above save the lock-downs has been going on for decades now. Doesn’t justify the sin, but when people are exposed to something sinful for so long, they can become desensitized to it, and thus begin to partake in said sin with little care for the fact that it is sin.

Growing up on Hollywood isn’t conductive to realizing the dangers of sin if you will, which is why it’s so important to make sure to steer clear of it as much as possible, especially once one has becomes saved. Couple of movies here and there, a few wicked ads thrown in, and before long you go from something that seems innocent to more adult films to then outright pornography, and it’ll catch up to people long before they realize.

    • You’re not kidding, Kurotron.

I used to be fascinated by adult oriented movies and then it moved to more harder R rated films, then when I least expected it, I came across pornography by accident and from there I was hooked.
Now, I am fighting against it and it’s all blocked.
