“Once it’s well-developed and available, it might start looking like a pretty attractive option for folk that like the idea of a baby but can’t see why they should have to go through the ordeals of pregnancy and childbirth to get one.”

Meet the “EctoLife:” “growth pods” touted as being the “world’s first artificial womb facility,” that can clone babies from the point of conception and attempts to emulate the birthing process.

A video was published by Hashem Al-Ghaili on December 9th showcasing his vision for what birthing could quite possibly look like in the future. However this project is reportedly just a concept and there are no known plans to construct the EctoLife pods.

New Atlas says the video is ‘designed to start a conversation and make an argument for a new model of parenthood that Al-Ghaili believes will be possible within years, and widespread within decades.’

Al-Ghaili’s general thesis is that pregnancy is a troublesome and time-consuming process for a myriad of internal and external reasons. Therefore this could be a way to replace the natural process and guarantee a healthy and optimized baby.

The concept postulates that artificial umbilical cords will provide the necessary nutrients needed for the baby to grow, cocooned within faux Amniotic fluid, while routinely dispersed the perfect balance of hormones and other necessary things to sustain a living person. ‘Baby waste products can be removed, run through a bioreactor and enzymatically converted back into ‘a steady and sustainable supply of fresh nutrients,’ New Atlas adds. Speakers will also be constantly playing to make sure the baby is intelligently developing as well, allowing the parents to speak into the pod so the baby can learn the parent’s voices.

New Atlas refers to these faux babies as ‘your little Tamagotchi’ that will appear on the parent’s smartphone, allowing them to monitor the baby’s vital signs and development. Parents can also wear a VR headset to see life from their vision, and put on a haptic suit so the mother can feel the simulated “kicking” the baby would normally do in the womb.

Since the babies are genetically modified and are living in isolation bubble, it is believed that there could be no “biological limit” to how these children could be edited for different traits, though such alternations could be a catastrophe in the waiting.

It’ll start out, Al-Ghaili feels, as the only option for certain parents: those who can’t conceive or bear kids naturally. But as it’s refined and proven, it’ll become an option for all prospective parents, linking in easily with the IVF, genetic screening, embryo selection, genetic potential modelling and genetic engineering we know is coming rapidly down the chute.

Once it’s well-developed and available, it might start looking like a pretty attractive option for folk that like the idea of a baby but can’t see why they should have to go through the ordeals of pregnancy and childbirth to get one. Heck, you might not even need a day off work, just hold hands with your significant other after a day at the office, head down to the baby farm and pop the lid on life as a parent. EctoLife will even hook you up with a free genetic test to make sure you’re not heading home with the wrong kid.

New Atlas further explained

That being said, Loz Blain, writing for New Atlas, admitted that this idea is “pretty twisted, inhuman and dystopian,” drawing comparisons to the movie The Matrix.

[18] As a mad man who casteth firebrands, arrows, and death, [19] So is the man that deceiveth his neighbour, and saith, Am not I in sport?

Proverbs 26:18-19

Oh sure, it’s just all one big ‘thought provoking’ joke? Surrrre, whatever you say…

On the contrary, this is on par with what probably will happen in the future of birthing, as The WP has already covered in other articles that this insidious future of transhumanism will involve into gene-edited and cloned babies. “EctoLife” more or less is prophesying will what will be coming.

Kind of reminds me of that scene in the Star Wars movies when Obi-Wan Kenobi is walking through cloning facilities that made the clone army.

[1] Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; [2] Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; [3] Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

1 Timothy 4:1-3

I’m sure once marriage is banned and off the table, having pretend children grown in a vat someplace may occur, by time shall tell.

[7] Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock? [8] Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also? [9] For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen? [10] Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope. (1 Corinthians 9:7-10).
