Children in Montreal, Canada, are flooding the hospitals and emergency rooms, with reports of hundreds flowing in each day, as the staff cannot keep up with this pace.
The Montreal Gazette reported on October 31st, ‘Parents camp out overnight, waiting 16, 20, even 24 hours for their children to be seen, depending on the priority they are assigned during triage. Stretchers line hallways. Medical staff are working around the clock to care for more and sicker youngsters.’
Quebec as a whole is reportedly not fairing much better, as hospitals are dealing with staff shortages, lack of access of family doctors, and ‘an aging population and patients suffering from a range of ailments that may have gone unchecked during the pandemic.’
It’s definitely the busiest that I can remember in my 20 years of practice at the Montreal Children’s Hospital.
We are operating at overcapacity every single day. I feel like we’re experiencing right now what the adult hospitals were experiencing at the peak of Covid. We’re in our viral pandemic, essentially, and we are really working non-stop, overtime, and in really challenging situations.
Dr. Suzanne Vaillancourt, an ER doctor, said
Some hospitals in the province have exceeded 250% and 300% occupancy rates.
The Gazette and some doctors are attributing this to an outbreak of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), which is reportedly a more common disease than people realize, but what is ‘unusual is the number of children suffering severe effects, in large part because they haven’t been exposed to many bugs in their young lives,’ the Gazette wrote.
We’re probably seeing about 10 times more patients with RSV than we did before the pandemic.
When their moms were pregnant, they weren’t out and about like pre-pandemic, so they weren’t exposed and they didn’t pass on the immunity. Even in kids who are one and two years old, who normally don’t get sick with RSV, they haven’t had the immunity. And if you don’t have immunity and you have any other predisposing conditions, like asthma, then you can get a lot sicker.
The issue for us, which is really difficult in an emergency room, is we’ll have many, many, many patients waiting to be admitted to the hospital, but we’re still seeing all the other patients that are coming in.
The physicians and nurses on our team just start to feel overwhelmed because you can only be in so many places at once, and when you’re trying to evaluate multiple sick patients at once, it’s tough. That’s what we’re trained to do, and I think we do it very, very well, but there are limits to our capacity to do that.
It’s hard, too, to see parents who have been waiting 16, 20 hours sometimes. We’re humans; we empathize with them and what they’re going through.

Dr. Antonio D’Angelo, the chief of emergency medicine, who works at CHU Ste-Justine Hospital, said that he is seeing roughly 300 children kids admitted each day, calling the scene a “horror film, as he and his staff are being pushed to the brink of over-exhaustion and stress, as the line of children just waiting to be treated continue to grow in length.
In an emergency department, the quality and the security — the safety — of the service is really dependent on the flow-through of the system.
It really has to work as an efficient machine, and once you get any funneling effect, where you get a backlog of patients who can’t be admitted to the ward, then the emergency department becomes not only an emergency department, but a ward where you have patients who have to continue to be seen and treated.
It’s like a horror film where you have one bad thing happen to the protagonist and you think that’s the worst, but around the corner there’s another even worse thing that can happen. We’re kind of living that situation and it’s very distressing, I would say, because you don’t know what’s around the bend.
There are no alternatives for patients and they’d rather come and wait — even if they have to wait 18 hours on a chair with another child in a stroller, they’d rather wait and see a doctor than not be seen at all.
We even have difficulty sending them home, because they say, ‘Well, what do we do? What do we do after? We don’t have any follow up to this. We don’t have a family doctor.’ It’s pretty distressing for everyone.

Of course, like every other time the media says the hospitals are jam-packed, never once are the Covid vaccines brought up, even though we know people are dropping like flies from these death shots.
Last year I warned that we would start to see a collapse of the system, and the hospitals falling apart are a key component of that. It will get to the point where most of them will have to start turning people away because they are so short-staffed, out of supplies and energy, and packed to the brim with sick people.
The Canadian health system is even worse than America’s. Years ago when I worked for my dad’s drywall company we did a job for a Canadian who just moved into the area, and he told us that getting treatment is a joke due to the socialist structure, and waiting times were long already. So, if these reports of their being an influx of sick kids are true, then it only speaks to how dire the situation will get as the months roll by.

Being from Quebec, I have experienced the hospitals in my childhood. It is a nightmare. You have to take a whole day off to see a doctor. I have seen reports before of the elderly dying in some hospital because they had waited for over 24 hours. It is a total joke in Quebec. If you get really sick, you might just die. And it’s almost impossible to get a surgery.
I agree. It’s the same here in Manitoba, hearing first-hand stories from people. Doctors barely give patients true health advice. A quick look-over, scribble a script and rush you out toward the nearest witchcraft store, sorry, pharmacy.
I can confirm the truth of the socialized medicine situation from the late ’80’s to ’90’s when I worked for a manufacturer of electrical cords. One of the buyers who routinely visited the business scheduled all his medical appointments here because it was so insane. In late ’90’s met an Australian at a pharmacy who was doing something similar. Said he was so far down the queue of treatment in their system that he’d die for sure before his number came up….so he came here. Bad old America won’t be around for that anymore: now they’ll all just die unless they’re really wicked & connected (at least til the Lord says: enough).

Had a bit of a turned up week here, too. The absentee landlord of our community sold out. Been here 25 years with no defaults, mowing my own & more, putting in improvements, perennials, fruit trees etc. We even fixed our own driveway because the landlord just ignored the place unless he missed a check, & our own roof damage from dying tree limbs etc. Now that’s all considered ‘unsightly’. No digging. No outside children’s play equipment. No muddy cars. Limit number of cars. Limit number of people. Turn around three times & poop where we tell you, I guess.

Thankfully, we combined households & the kids at least are debt free & saving, before this took effect,,,, & the house is paid off in September, but we’ll lose all sweat equity & improvement costs. They put up the notice the day after Halloween, after collecting the lot rent checks. ……………………..And we still don’t have the name of the owners: they hide behind an LLC.

Sort of lost it on them yesterday, when not only the notice was there, but the mail carrier took our mail out of the locked box leaving a note saying we hadn’t picked up for three weeks (we pick it up about once a week, & had timestamped mail to prove it…not been an issue for 25 years, but our local postmaster retired & they sent a doozy in).

I had an expensive box of Rod & Staff curriculum due to arrive, and five years ago when I sent a large order to our daughter in another town & got a digit wrong in her address….they delivered one box out of five, because they knew her & at least someone there was honest: she’d lived there 5 or 6 years, but some ‘activist’ in that little Catholic stronghold used the excuse to mark them undeliverable & they were ‘lost’ in Philadelphia when we tried tracking & recovering them. Ate a couple thousand bucks & was NOT happy….but that was part of our wake-up to the reality of the so-called ‘conspiracy THEORY’….nah, FACT….in the Bammy-whammy years. The cost of doing business or living in their antichrist new normal.

Several of them went the extra mile trying to recruit me back for awhile because I’d ‘lost my mind’, some of them for years, but none of them scared me with the violence of their reaction like the sodomite did.

With regard to this current situation, after I calmed down & prayed about it….I remembered that I knew it was a risk all along, just hoping that the cancer would get me before the nation went totally down, & to leave something behind to help the young & scared women around here with children, leaving a little witness & potential hope if the starving times come. I’ve also prayed for my husband to die first if it be the Lord’s will…..for I fear he couldn’t cope & he just can’t bring himself to believe all hope for this nation & voting is lost. I’ve talked to a few here in the neighborhood about it, & the new widow, too….though I doubt she will live long without the extra-special care her husband gave her no matter what we all do.

Through it all I found out that at least one young cop in our town is a Christian. Sufficiently so that he corrected the scripture I used quoting Johnny Mac-mason-Arthur ….with King James, & confirmed that there were no longer any churches standing in our area….nor any lawyers he would trust not sold out to the ‘transformation’. He grew up in the area, & had a hard time keeping a straight face & the professional psych lines straight outside the post office on the public sidewalk where I ended up after I proved their three week no pickup a bald-faced lie with timestamped mail with a second trip. I never received an apology & witch-woman pretended offense that I called them thieves & liars, with their lie in writing in front of me, saying they had jurisdiction over the box, the carrier was still out with the mail when they told my daughter who tried picking it up earlier that they didn’t have it….&called the police….lol. I told her they knew I was there because I filed an incident report with them immediately after they told our daughter they didn’t have our mail….and we had that insulting, lying note.

She thought she ‘had me’ when I said I had timestamped mail proving that letter a lie, & she called me a liar to my face because I didn’t have it on me. Didn’t expect me to go home, get it and come back. Little old lady in a dress…..ooooooooooo, SCARY. Just thankful daughter still does Christmas & had a timestamped package. I typically pick up & sort mail, shredding or mulching the trash & envelopes immediately. Not that it mattered. They still would admit no offense!

Given the changes around here, been praying about what to do & for guidance….this might be my answer. Another duty station before cancer, crash or rapture…..or simply dig in & plant what seeds I can in my grandchildren here. Neighbors were pretty outraged. No dirty cars? But the potholes of five years are still here? The broken framed homes from ignoring pleas for better piers or pad foundations? No digging? I remember a very strange statement the then longserving Prime Minister of Grenada made in August 2021 about covid patients overwhelming the hospitals.
It was “the health care team shall be forced to choose who lives, and who dies”.
