Per a recent user policy agreement update, the international payment giant intended on dinging accounts $2,500 in fines for peddling what they deemed as “misinformation,” for the user’s “wellbeing.”
PayPal has already been on a censorship binge, publicly stating that they will be discreetly deplatforming and locking out users and outlets who are pushing “extremism” and “misinformation.” Since then have already done so, specifically going after truly independent outlets and journalists, with very little press coverage on said censorship

The Daily Wire was one of the first larger outlets to report on this new updated policy agreement, that was set to take effect on November 3rd. PayPal said they would be expanding their “existing list of prohibited activities,” which includes “the sending, posting, or publication of any messages, content, or materials” that “promote misinformation” or “present a risk to user safety or wellbeing.” Users would have also been barred from the proliferation “of hate, violence, racial or other forms of intolerance that is discriminatory.”
Moreover, PayPal could act at their own “sole discretion” and would have imposed “damages” upon an account that broke their loose terms and services agreements. One of these penalties included dinging accounts for $2,500 “debited directly from your PayPal account” for each trespass.
‘The company’s user agreement contains a provision in which account holders acknowledge that the figure is “presently a reasonable minimum estimate of PayPal’s actual damages” due to the administrative cost of tracking violations and damage to the company’s reputation,’ The DW added.
But since this discovery was made the backlash on social media was immediate and fierce, with many users and individuals announcing they would no longer use PayPal’s services, and encouraging others to hop on that bandwagon.
PayPal since has then retracted that policy.
In a statement to the National Review, a spokesperson for the company said,
An AUP notice recently went out in error that included incorrect information. PayPal is not fining people for misinformation and this language was never intended to be inserted in our policy. Our teams are working to correct our policy pages. We’re sorry for the confusion this has caused.
Former PayPal president David Marcus also criticized the intended move:
It’s hard for me to openly criticize a company I used to love and gave so much to. But @PayPal’s new AUP goes against everything I believe in. A private company now gets to decide to take your money if you say something they disagree with. Insanity.
However, some Twitter users pointed out that PayPal was already seizing user’s account funds for peddling what they called misinformation, and that this was the largest step PayPal had taken thus far.

Even though PayPal has now been forced to not openly drain people’s accounts, this does not mean they are not actively shutting down people they do not want on there, whilst locking out people’s accounts and effectively stealing user’s unclaimed balances.
This news has received widespread mainstream media attention. For this reason, it was probably intended to be a “feeler” in the first place: put it out there and wait for the public’s reaction, and then implement the real goal that no one will notice because the media they have in their backpockets will not report on it. This happens all the time.
So, if and when the intended policy is implemented, I will try to report on it ASAP if I happen to catch it in time.
Needless to say, do not use PayPal. PayPal has already gone after The WinePress before, and I do not intend to ever use them again. Even so, other credit apps will soon follow in lockstep, per the imminent advent of CBDCs and social credit scores.

I decided to quit using PayPal almost a year ago and I’m glad I did. Back in the day companies avoided mixing business and politics, but there will always be those who come along who want to change things around. The Bible warns us to stay away from these types of people..
