The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork (Psalm 19:1).

It is once in a lifetime opportunity. As today marks the first official day of Winter, the two largest planets in our solar system, Jupiter and Saturn, will be crossing paths tonight giving the illusion of a very bright star.

It is so bright, some are calling it the “Christmas Star.”

The last time these planets ever came so close was in 1623.

AUTHOR COMMENTARY

[1] To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. [2] Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. [3] There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard. [4] Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun, [5] Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race. [6] His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.

Psalms 19:1-6
[7] Which commandeth the sun, and it riseth not; and sealeth up the stars. [8] Which alone spreadeth out the heavens, and treadeth upon the waves of the sea. [9] Which maketh Arcturus, Orion, and Pleiades, and the chambers of the south. [10] Which doeth great things past finding out; yea, and wonders without number.

Job 9:7-10

God’s creation is just so marvelous. Looking up at the heavens above fascinates me. Just seeing and learning more about what he has created, just shows his awesome power. It always makes me curious why the Lord chose to make them they way he did, why did he put them in that exact spot, and a plethora of other ponderings. But these are the things only God knows.

As Bible believers, we understand that the names Jupiter and Saturn are pagan names of pagan gods (Acts 14:12-13), but that in no way invalidates their splendor.

Unfortunately it is raining where I am at, so now stargazing tonight.
