The city “aims to be the next generation of self-sufficient city, producing all the city’s renewable energy needs, as well as the resident’s caloric food intake on site.”

Saudi Arabia has been rapidly developing smart cities already, as noted in other WinePress reports, and now the Middle Eastern nations is looking to create yet another utopian carbon-free smart city.

ALNAMA Smart City

The new city called ALNAMA in Riyadh is derived from the Arabia word “thrive,’ and it is poised to deliver 11,000 residential units for a population of 44,000 people, spanning 1,000 hectares in size.

The project is being spearheaded by URB, which explains the construction of the city in much more meticulous detail. According to the website, the city will also have these key features:

  • 100% renewable energy
  • 100% water recycling
  • Smart self sufficient city
  • Car-free city
  • 37km dedicated running & cycling tracks
  • 7.5km dedicated equestrian track
  • Ecotourism, medical tourism & edutainment
  • Autism village & rehabilitation centre
  • State-of-the art education
  • zero-waste city
  • Productive landscape

Construction Week added, ‘Eco-friendly glamping lodges, eco-resorts as well as a nature conservation centre are key components of the hospitality hub, which will promote ecotourism.’

Smart Cities World reports, ‘Baharash Bagherian, Urb CEO, who has been behind a number of sustainable cities including recently launched projects such as The Sustainable City in Yiti, The Sustainable City Yas Island, Nexgen Sustainable City, described Alnama as the “next evolution” in smart cities.’

Alnama aims to be the next generation of self-sufficient city, producing all the city’s renewable energy needs, as well as the resident’s caloric food intake on site. Biosaline agriculture, productive gardens, wadis and carbon-rich habitats are key features of the development’s innovative and resilient landscape design.

The city was planned through the design of its landscape, rather than its buildings. This creates an urbanism that is more socially inclusive, more economically valuable, and more sensitive to the environment.

In terms of diet, URB further explains that residents “will receive their caloric intake from [a] variation of locally grown produce including fruits, vegetables, leafy and micro-greens, mushrooms, poultry, fish, dairy etc. The city will feature innovative solutions of advancing the global transition to sustainable food systems.”

Being that it is a smart city, everything will be tracked and interconnected per the Internet of Things (IoT) and smart grids. The city “has a smart grid strategy in various layers such as energy, water, food, waste, air quality, health & wellbeing to provide resources more efficiently and equitably to residents,” the developers say.

Home energy-management solutions are enabled with transmission and distribution by the city’s smart solar grid systems. Homes are equipped with smart meters, network and security architectures, switching products and routing to create a renewable solar distributed generation grid.

ALNAMA also embeds sensors within its infrastructure which are connected to the IoTs and can communicate in real time to various components within the city. For example, waste can be collected upon receiving automatic notification that they are full. Real-time user data can be analysed to provide an estimate of the day and time of future waste collections.

Smart water systems will reduce resident water consumption. All bathrooms, kitchens, water features, irrigation systems and facilities will integrate highly efficient water saving technologies. Drinking water is also produced on-site through solar powered air-to-water generators.

At a building level, sensors play a key role. Indoor lighting and temperature can automatically be adjusted based on various variables. These variables include the number of occupants in a room, the time of day as well as exterior weather and light conditions. All buildings will have embedded sensors to detect motion, temperature, noise, moisture, fire, smoke etc… to provide real-time data and help improve operational efficiency, safety and security.

AUTHOR COMMENTARY

Thou knowest Abner the son of Ner, that he came to deceive thee, and to know thy going out and thy coming in, and to know all that thou doest.

2 Samuel 3:25

If you read my report, “Agenda 2030: You’ll Own Nothing And Be Happy,” then the description of this new city (like all the others), are falling right in line with what the World Economic Forum wrote and prophesized what happen by 2030, to a ‘T.’

Just yesterday I reported on how Google and Microsoft are investing in a company that offers software to provide 24/7 surveillance of carbon emissions, in a bid to “decarbonize every emission.” And as you read, the exact number of calories people will be tracked and monitored: EVERYTHNG will be tracked. And while the website and other articles do not discuss this, yet, the masses will have to be physically plugged into the grid and have cybernetics implanted into them: this is how the AI will be able to monitor everything.

Moreover, have you observed that with all this complex construction, the occupancy rate is very small. Now, call me a “conspiracist,” but by the time the masses get shoved off into these smart cities, and shipwrecked born again believers who utterly fell away, the world population will have taken some major haircuts…

[1] Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; [2] Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; [3] Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

1 Timothy 4:1-3

These utopian nightmares are the cities of the sluggards:

The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.

Proverbs 13:4. “You’ll own nothing and be happy.”

[7] Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock? [8] Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also? [9] For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen? [10] Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope. (1 Corinthians 9:7-10).

  • Wonder if part of their ‘onsite produced caloric intake’ will be mealworms? They can keep all of that, I’m good.
