Japan’s Covid-related restrictions and mandates have quietly gone unnoticed by most people, but some of that is now coming to light.
The Guardian reports that, ‘After two years of eating in near-monastic silence, children in Japan have been given permission to chat to their classmates over lunch, as Covid cases in the country continue to fall.’
Most Japanese schools enforced a no-speaking policy and forced to eat their lunches in dead silence, called ‘mokushoku,’ which means “silent eating;” as a preventative measure to stymie the transmission of Covid-19.
But now that cases are reportedly falling, some schools are reneging on that policy, claiming that that fear ‘is affecting the social and educational development of children as young as six,’ The Guardian added.
As long as the schoolchildren speak quietly, the board of education in Fukuoka in western Japan decided that they will mull the mandate on silent lunches.
The schoolchildren will still however have to wear masks when participating in ‘Itadakimasu’ – a Japanese tradition of giving thanks before eating.
Silent eating has gone on for a long time now. I hope happy school lunchtimes will return soon.
Kenji Tanaka, a primary school principal, told the Mainichi Shimbun.
Some parents were not happy to hear the mandate was going away for now.
My child is used to eating silently, and I’m sure she doesn’t feel lonely as she is with her family when she gets home. I’m concerned about the possibility of infection, so I hope they will continue to eat without talking.
An anxious mother said
‘School officials are also being asked to apply a commonsense approach to masks during PE lessons after rising temperatures triggered a spate of heatstroke cases among children who were required to wear face coverings while exercising,’ The Guardian concluded.

Yes you need to be very careful with martial arts, mark-I’m all for defending yourself with both weapons and hand to hand combat but these martial arts be very careful and discerning because some of them tap into the spiritual world and that is bad news!
Speaking of video games, I’m going to confess a fault:
I was playing game apps for quite some time, mostly Cooking Fever and Cooking Craze, and yes they are are addictive-sure I wasn’t playing actual video games like a gaming console or on the computer, but they weren’t helping me with my repentance and growing with the Lord and also praying for God’s judgement on America, so last night, I made the decision to delete them all!

The masks are hard on the little ones, too. More depersonalization & destruction of empathy & the ability to read expressions and to truly communicate. This hit home with me today. Poor children….& makes me think of millstones cast down with violence.

We had a good outdoor gramma school day today. A seven year old learning to read with the King James Bible…w/ a four year old chiming in the letter sounds & words he knows: there goes that ‘too difficult’ and ‘obscure’ excuse. Lord willing, they’ll learn how to read for meaning & contextual definition, as the Bible is a self-defining book.
