Last week 7 News Australia reported that Kmart, Bunnings, and the Good Guys were quietly collecting customer’s biometric data without them knowing, including small children and babies.
However the stores claim that there are small signs at the entryways alerting customers that their data was being scanned and stored in a database, though residents surveyed claim that they were unaware of these signs.
The stores assert these measures are in place in order to prevent shoplifting and monitor people who maybe harassing employees or other customers.
Roughly two-thirds of the people surveyed said they would feel concerned about having their data tracked and stored without their consent, and approximately 75% said they do not want their details used for marketing purposes.

Then less than a week later, 7 News Australia reported again that the city of Adelaide will be bolstering their CBD security network with the use of facial recognition. “Police say that it will be a crime fighting game changer,” the Australian outlet reported.
The outlet says that security cameras are nothing new, but ones using facial recognition that can quickly access a digital database of IDs, is.
We’re in the business of solving crime, and if we have technology that makes it more easier to do that, then we’re going to take advantage of that.

However the media pointed out that the facial recognition technology has a harder time identifying darker skinned individuals and women, but has no problem seeing white males.

I know no one likes it when I say it, but, NEWS FLASH: they’ve been tracking and databasing every last detail about you without your consent for a LONGTIME. The media is just now telling Aussies about it so they can generate a reaction; especially considering this news came less than a week after they revealed the big box stores were collecting their biometric data.
Moreover, I reported in September of last year that Australia was already piloting a tracking system that would force people to take a picture of their location and send them to the government, and if they did not the police would come after them. On top of that, people’s smartphones they use 24/7-365 collect more data on them than a camera at a store could…
And while I am certainly not a fan of tyrants stalking and tracking me, there has always been someone who watches, listens, and knows every single thing we think and do:

Australia is without a doubt a very wicked and Godless nation probably worse than America. And Australia is getting what it deserves.
