Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has told the Biden administration he is willing to strike military rather than oil or nuclear facilities in Iran, according to two officials familiar with the matter, suggesting a more limited counterstrike aimed at preventing a full-scale war.

The following report is by The Washington Post (excerpts):

In the two weeks since Iran’s latest missile barrage on Israel, its second direct attack in six months, the Middle East has braced for Israel’s promised response, fearing the two countries’ decades-long shadow war could explode into a head-on military confrontation. It comes at a politically fraught time for Washington, less than a month before the election; President Joe Biden has said publicly he would not support an Israeli strike on nuclear-related sites.

When Biden and Netanyahu spoke Wednesday — their first call in more than seven weeks after months of rising tensions between the two men — the prime minister said he was planning to target military infrastructure in Iran, according to a U.S. official and an official familiar with the matter. Like others in this story, they spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive deliberations.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant vowed Tuesday that Israel would respond to the Iranian attack, saying its response would be “precise, painful and surprising.” But, he added, “we are not interested in opening additional fronts or new conflicts.”

The White House had no immediate comment. The Israeli prime minister’s office said in a statement that “we listen to the opinions of the United States, but we will make our final decisions based on our national interest.”

The retaliatory action would be calibrated to avoid the perception of “political interference in the U.S. elections,” the official familiar with the matter said, signaling Netanyahu’s understanding that the scope of the Israeli strike has the potential to reshape the presidential race.

An Israeli strike on Iranian oil facilities could send energy prices soaring, analysts say, while an attack on the country’s nuclear program could erase any remaining red lines governing Israel’s conflict with Tehran, triggering further escalation and risking a more direct U.S. military role. Netanyahu’s stated plan to go after military sites instead, as Israel did after Iran’s attack in April, was met with relief in Washington.

Netanyahu was in a “more moderated place” in that discussion than he had previously been, said the U.S. official, describing the call between the two leaders. The apparent softening of the prime minister’s stance factored into Biden’s decision to send a powerful missile defense system to Israel, both officials said.

After that call, the president was more inclined to do it, the U.S. official said.

[…] The Israeli strike on Iran would be carried out before the U.S. elections on Nov. 5, the official familiar with the matter said, because a lack of action could be interpreted by Iran as a sign of weakness. “It will be one in a series of responses,” she said.

[…] On timing, too, Netanyahu appeared to be taking cues from Washington: The United States is “giving Israel and the Netanyahu government a bear hug, but for Hezbollah,” said a former senior Israeli defense official who is familiar with current security discussions. “It is sending THAAD and promising all kinds of weapons that we need to finish off Hezbollah, saying that we can deal with Iran later.”

AUTHOR COMMENTARY

The Trends Journal provides a few comments in their forecast:

The extremist Israeli leadership wants Donald Trump to win the November election because a Trump administration is seen as even more in-the-pocket of Israel than a Kamala Harris White House.

As this week’s cover says: Prepare for a False Flag attack before the 2024 presidential election. A major strike on Iran from Israel will force Tehran to escalate, which means the war-whores in Congress and the White House will be able to publicly support Israel right before the election.

It is worth reminding readers that Sen. J.D. Vance used his first interview as Trump’s running mate to sell war with Iran, saying the U.S. needs to stop with little pin-pricks against Iran, and “punch Iran hard.”

“We need to punch Iran hard. That’s what Trump did with Qasem Soleimani. That action actually brought peace by checking the Iranians,” he said, according to Channel 7. “If you want to check the Iranians, you need to withdraw their oil money, and enable Israel and the Sunni countries to work to counter Iran.”

Netanyahu could not have said it better.

It is still anybody’s best guess who will be selected in a few weeks. The signs we are being projected would almost make it seem like Trump will be [s]elected, but we know a lot can happen; and we know that whomever gets placed there will not be for our good, that’s for sure, so don’t get too wise in your conceits and think you can predict these things: it’s futile and in vain regardless.

I have warned for a long time that false flag is absolutely in the works, including in regard to Russia-Ukraine, and maybe even perhaps with China and Taiwan and The Philippines; and one right before the election is quite possible….

Matthew 24:6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. [7] For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. [8] All these are the beginning of sorrows.

[7] Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock? [8] Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also? [9] For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen? [10] Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope. (1 Corinthians 9:7-10).

  • “An Israeli strike on Iranian oil facilities could send energy prices soaring, analysts say…”

Mohamed bin Salman and other merchants would like to see that.

    • Good Morning NarrowIsTheWay
Yes analysts say that , but they say alot of things. We, being the USA have enough oil under our feet to make the Middle East a non-factor!
We also have the capacity to be the worlds largest producer of LNG.
America can have energy independence as well as energy dominance
if the right people are at the wheel.
We might be getting close to the time of Jacobs trouble, it sure looks that way . In the mean time, I’m pulling for the one who has done the most good in my lifetime, and I pray the GOOD LORD places him in the White House
With all that said, Even so, come quickly LORD JESUS !
      Have a blessed day.
