Swiss Info reported yesterday:
Following the House of Representatives, the Senate also approved the underlying legal basis for the project on Tuesday. The bill will now pass back to the other chamber to iron out disagreements on individual data protection and cyber security issues.
The small chamber was clearly in favor of the federal law and the credit for the development and operation of the digital identity, approving them by 43 votes to 1 and 44 votes to 1 respectively.
The electronic identity is the second attempt to introduce an digital ID in Switzerland. It is to be introduced in 2026. The first attempt – a private-sector solution – was rejected at the ballot box in 2021.
Supporters of the initiative, which is this time state-organized, say that the right lessons have been learned from the 2021 failure.
Biometric Update also noted: ‘The E-ID Act, known officially as the Federal Act on Electronic Identity Credentials and Other Electronic Credentials (BGEID), was unveiled in November last year. In March, the Swiss National Council greenlighted a budget of 100 million francs (US$113.3 million) for developing the digital identity system.’
The outlet added: ‘The new scheme promises a government-controlled system closer to self-sovereign identity (SSI), giving users more control over data. In July, a Swiss government commission recommended that e-ID data be kept exclusively in a government digital wallet. Private wallet makers will be able to store and present the electronic ID in the future so long as they comply with council regulations.’
AUTHOR COMMENTARY
I have covered many times over that a digital ID is needed to facilitate CBDCs and tokenization. The implementation of a digital ID is the beginning of the end of freedom and autonomy, as everything will monitored and tracked.
[7] Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock? [8] Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also? [9] For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen? [10] Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope. (1 Corinthians 9:7-10).

We will soon be “forced” to do something like this in the U.S. It won’t be long, but perhaps it will be after we are gone, which we hope. See you all soon bro’s & sis’s.
