Hardly anyone uses them at Target.

The following report is by NBC Chicago:

Target is making a major change to how customers pay for goods at the store.

Starting this month, the Minnesota-based retailer says it will no longer accept personal checks as a form of payment, a spokesperson confirmed to NBC Chicago.

The move was made due to “extremely low volumes,” the spokesperson said, adding that the retailer has taken “several measures” to notify customers in advance.

The change will go into effect July 15, several days after Target’s popular Circle Week event.

According to the spokesperson, Target accepts several forms of payment, including Target Circle Cards, cash, digital wallets, SNAP/EBT, credit and debit cards, and buy now-pay later services.

The move comes following other recent changes Target has made, including adding limitations to the retailer’s self-checkout policy.

AUTHOR COMMENTARY

Even though most people no longer use checks in general, Target’s decision to no longer accept checks may have a ripple effect on major businesses doing the same. This is further evidence that the country and world are moving into a completely digital landscape; eventually culminating into the mark of the beast, though I still we believe we have some ways to go yet.

Revelation 13:16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: [17] And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. [18] Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

[7] Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock? [8] Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also? [9] For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen? [10] Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope. (1 Corinthians 9:7-10).

  • It baffles me that only 40 years of Internet and technology has done this much. Its advent led to so much sin that the Lord decided this time would be the end.

Wonderful and vexing to be a part of this generation at 20 y/o.

  • I’m not surprised they head the herd. For many years I’ve avoided Target. There was just a hateful spirit there that always made me uncomfortable, and worse than places like Walmart. I wasn’t comfortable bringing the children in there, & it was more than the uniform ungodliness of the merchandise which was getting worse & worse everywhere. There was animosity from the staff for no reason & so forth, a clutching pity & flattering directed at the children. Staring at anyone modestly attired etc.

  • As a business owner for over 30 years, I AGREE WITH TARGET. I cannot tell you how many bad checks we received. Good luck collecting from these deadbeats who know their accounts are overdrawn. Then the collection agencies are brought in. IF they can collect anything you automatically lose 30-50% or more depending on the amount “potentially” collected. I stopped taking personal checks as well. IN FACT, I WILL GO FURTHER. I NO LONGER TAKE AMERICAN EXPRESS AS THEIR CASH BACK TO USERS IS 4% PLUS THE 2.5% LOSS FOR THEIR TRANSACTION FEES. ON A LARGE ORDER YOU LOSE THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS. All these cards give cash back to users so we have limited purchases to $1200. Anyone doesn’t like it, take the train…tired of losing money when my company works hard to produce a top tier product THAT ACTUALLY DOES WHAT IS CLAIMED AND THEN SOME. People wanting large purchases can pay by wire transfer. Screw it. Tired of the endless losses and personal checks are the worst. if you don’t own a business you are clueless as to the extent of the losses businesses suffer from as costs to operate climb higher and higher. SO GOOD ON YOU TARGET AND OTHERS.
