Recent legislation now requires all new cars sold in Europe to have speed-limiting devices fitted, beginning this Sunday, 7 July 2024.

The following report is by The Drive:

The technology, called intelligence speed assistance (ISA), is now mandatory for all brand-new cars in the European Union, and can either warn drivers when they’re driving over the posted limit or actively prevent the vehicle from speeding.

However, opponents have criticised the technology for distracting and annoying drivers.

Manufacturers have four available options under EU regulations if the ISA detects speeding: a gentle pushback on the throttle, an autonomous reduction in engine power, haptic throttle pedal vibrations combined with visual alerts (which escalate if ignored), or flashing visual cues followed by audible alerts.

Drivers are said to be able to intervene and override the technology.

Under EU laws, it’s recommended drivers be able to switch off ISA “when a driver experiences false warnings or inappropriate feedback as a result of inclement weather conditions, temporarily conflicting road markings in construction zones, or misleading, defective or missing road signs.”

Being a recommendation, the ability to switch the system off isn’t a requirement.

While the UK has confirmed it won’t be introducing the mandate, any new car being sold and registered after 7 July 2024 in Europe – even if built before the laws came into effect – will be required to have the technology retrofitted.

Both road-sign recognition cameras and GPS map data will be used by ISA systems to determine the speed limit.

Road-sign recognition technology fitted to new cars sold in Australia has often been criticised for misinterpreting variable speed zone signs – such as time-sensitive school-limit zones – as well as reading speed limit signs located in service roads.

AUTHOR COMMENTARY

This obviously screams of more control. It has nothing to do with this climate baloney at all, or under the guise of “saving lives.” Of course, those who love oppression and a tighter noose around their necks will say, ‘Well, why do you want to speed? What are you some kind of criminal?’ The answer is obviously not, but the fact that the vehicle can go significantly faster but is now programmed to slow down or flash warnings at certain speeds is just ridiculous.

We know the powers that be want people to travel less, and ultimately own nothing and get shoved-off into a smart city. Though subtle, this is another step towards that agenda.

[7] Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock? [8] Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also? [9] For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen? [10] Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope. (1 Corinthians 9:7-10).

  • ” . . . even if built before the laws came into effect – will be required to have the technology retrofitted.” <—–Good luck with that

  • Nothing new here at all, the technology is old, it’s called a rev limiter and it’s used in all forms of racing and also in normal cars: at the desired RPM, the ignition cuts spark to cylinders so the engine don’t over rev. If speed limit is 50 they can just kill spark when car is over speed limit at a certain rpm in top gear(overdrive nowadays).

      • Born Again, I think at about 1973 or1974 which is when electronic ignition came out, don’t quote me on it, my Chevy Laguna was a 73 and had electronic ignition. It was command place when I started working as an mechanic in1983.
        1966 was points ignition.
Boy o boy I’m old, LOL was born in 1961

  • Anything mechanical can malfunction. Like those electrical vehicles catching fire & locking their occupants within etc. Be ready to break windows. Idiocy, presumption and over engineering, over meddling by ‘dreamers’ & control freaks sure of their superiority that create unnecessary headaches for consumers, & maintenance & repair folks alike.

My brother’s electric car simply lost power altogether on the interstate between semis & traffic navigating the mountains of WV….it was a terrifying & eye-opening experience for everyone in THAT smart, green car with its ‘advanced technology’. I doubt my mother will ever travel ANYWHERE with them again without thinking twice! Lol, and thankful, she needs to be saved…and spends way too much time with Lucifer’s flatterers, distractors and evangelists.

Baptist evangelism distinctive number one: dead people can’t come to their senses to repent & believe to salvation, even & including the conditioned& presumptuous blindly trusting any authority, & the Potter witches & transformer dreamers of this current age trusting in their vain imaginations and/or science falsely so called.
