Japan will be the first country outside the U.S. to roll out Apple Wallet’s ID feature

In a move to allow for broader use and adoption of their digital ID’s, Japan’s parliament has allowed those biometric IDs to be integrated with Apple devices.

According to The Japan Times, the lawmakers passed a law that allows private information on “My Number” cards to be stored in smartphones, containing names, addresses, photographs, social security data and tax data.

‘The move is expected to boost cardholders’ convenience, as procedures such as opening online brokerage accounts and age verification when shopping can be completed using their smartphones,’ the paper explained.

Apple Japan further detailed the move in a press release:

Apple is working with the Japan Digital Agency to make it possible for people living in Japan to use their My Number card in Apple Wallet from late next spring. Japan will be the first country outside the U.S. to roll out Apple Wallet’s ID feature. With this feature, people living in Japan will be able to seamlessly add their My Number card to Apple Wallet on their iPhone, and use it to issue official certificates at convenience stores just like a physical card, and access the My Number Portal iOS app to receive online government services, all while enjoying the security and convenience of their iPhone.

“The expansion of Apple Wallet ID outside the US marks an important step in our vision to replace physical wallets with an easy, secure and private mobile wallet,” said Jennifer Bailey, Apple’s vice president of Apple Pay and Apple Wallet. “We’re thrilled to be able to accept My Number cards in Apple Wallet later next spring, giving people in Japan a seamless and convenient way to present their ID while taking full advantage of the security and privacy protections built into their iPhone.”

“I am very pleased to be working with Apple, under the leadership of Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and Apple CEO Tim Cook, on this bold initiative to incorporate the My Number Card function into smartphones. Currently, more than 100 million citizens have applied for the My Number Card, Japan’s ID card, and it is widely used in everyday life, including access to a variety of public and private online services, as well as administrative services at over 60,000 convenience stores, and can also be used in disasters and emergencies. The Digital Agency will build a world-leading, safe and convenient digital society based on smartphones,” said Taro Kono, Minister for Digital Affairs.

Present your ID in Apple Wallet

My Number Card in Apple Wallet is an easy, more secure way to add and present your ID to your iPhone without having to remove a physical card or hand over your device. When available, users can present their ID in person by simply opening Wallet, selecting their My Number Card, double-clicking the side button on their iPhone, authenticating with Face ID or Touch ID, and holding their iPhone over a contactless ID card reader. In some use cases, an additional authentication step may be required when reading with the card reader.

Users will be able to present their My Number card in Apple Wallet anywhere a physical My Number card is accepted, including at hospitals and medical facilities, convenience stores, and in certain apps, such as the Japanese government’s My Number Portal iOS app.

Security and Privacy

Apple products are designed to give you control over your information and protect your privacy. Apple Wallet Identification provides a secure way to add and use your mobile identity while providing security and privacy benefits that physical identification can’t provide. Information about past presentations, including where, when and what personal information you shared, is encrypted and stored only on your device. Apple never learns your presentation history. And if you misplace your iPhone, you can use the Find My app to lock and help locate it or erase it remotely.

Apple Wallet ID supports the ISO 18013-5 series and ISO 23220 series of standards, which provide clear guidelines for protecting consumer privacy when presenting an ID or driver’s license on a mobile device.

The whole world is racing towards this new digital ecosphere and Japan appears to further along than others; and the adaptation with Apple makes it more palatable for the broad masses.

All in all, it’s another step closer towards the mark of the beast.

[16] And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: [17] And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. [18] Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

Revelation 13:16-18

[7] Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock? [8] Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also? [9] For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen? [10] Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope. (1 Corinthians 9:7-10).

  • While it is patently clear that this is all part and parcel of building the inevitable beast system, in the meantime people will get held up and/or physically assaulted to take their target rich phone away from them. They’ll buy into the ‘convenience’ since it’s SO HARD to open your wallet!!! Then, the ‘solution’ will come – ‘here John / Jane Doe, see this little ‘chip’ right here, we’ll place it in your hand or your forehead near the hairline so no one will notice and then no one can steal your phone’!

    Watch – it’s coming.
