The following report is by the Associated Press:
Louisiana has become the first state to require that the Ten Commandments be displayed in every public school classroom under a bill signed into law by Republican Gov. Jeff Landry on Wednesday.
The GOP-drafted legislation mandates that a poster-sized display of the Ten Commandments in “large, easily readable font” be required in all public classrooms, from kindergarten to state-funded universities. Although the bill did not receive final approval from Landry, the time for gubernatorial action — to sign or veto the bill — has lapsed.
Opponents question the law’s constitutionality, warning that lawsuits are likely to follow. Proponents say the purpose of the measure is not solely religious, but that it has historical significance. In the law’s language, the Ten Commandments are described as “foundational documents of our state and national government.”
The displays, which will be paired with a four-paragraph “context statement” describing how the Ten Commandments “were a prominent part of American public education for almost three centuries,” must be in place in classrooms by the start of 2025.
The posters would be paid for through donations. State funds will not be used to implement the mandate, based on language in the legislation.
The law also “authorizes” — but does not require — the display of the Mayflower Compact, the Declaration of Independence and the Northwest Ordinance in K-12 public schools.
Similar bills requiring the Ten Commandments be displayed in classrooms have been proposed in other states including Texas, Oklahoma and Utah. However, with threats of legal battles over the constitutionality of such measures, no state besides Louisiana has had success in making the bills law.
Legal battles over the display of the Ten Commandments in classrooms are not new.
In 1980, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that a similar Kentucky law was unconstitutional and violated the establishment clause of the U.S. Constitution, which says Congress can “make no law respecting an establishment of religion.” The high court found that the law had no secular purpose but rather served a plainly religious purpose.
Louisiana’s controversial law, in a state ensconced in the Bible Belt, comes during a new era of conservative leadership in the state under Landry, who replaced two-term Democratic Gov. John Bel Edwards in January.
The GOP also has a two-thirds supermajority in the Legislature, and Republicans hold every statewide elected position, paving the way for lawmakers to push through a conservative agenda during the legislative session that concluded earlier this month.
AUTHOR COMMENTARY
Romans 7:12 Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.
If am totally candid and honest right now, while I will certainly take this over the abominations that are regularly being pushed daily in public schools, this move is too little too late.
Don’t get me wrong: I’m all for instilling biblical values; but at this point – “For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them” (Acts 28:27).
We’ve strayed off of the biblical road such a long time ago and for far too long. It reminds of the ‘phenomena’ we read about in the Kinds and Chronicles, where the kings and rulers establish the pagan idols and groves, Baal worship and child sacrifice, and then one king abolishes it just for the next set of kings to bring it all back and then some, and have that cycle repeat over and over until the Israel and Judah were no more.
2 Chronicles 20:33 Howbeit the high places were not taken away: for as yet the people had not prepared their hearts unto the God of their fathers.
As I said, this move by Louisiana is too little too late. The children have been raised to despise the Lord and his word, and this move will only be seen as a mockery by so many anyways. A number of people in the comments of the videos were quick to point out the hypocrisy of these politicians who regularly break them, which is also a valid a point as well. In order for the commandments and righteous standards to be taken seriously the Christians and the leaders need to live by them.
2 Corinthians 3:1 Do we begin again to commend ourselves? or need we, as some others, epistles of commendation to you, or letters of commendation from you? [2] Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men: [3] Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.
[7] Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock? [8] Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also? [9] For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen? [10] Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope. (1 Corinthians 9:7-10).

Louisiana is taking back ground that had been ceded. I applaud them. Ecclesiastes tells us there is nothing new under the sun. Until we are taken home to be with The Lord, the ‘push-pull’ will continue.
Yes, the lost will point to failings as hypocrisy because they don’t understand that we battle the flesh in one way or another, most every single day. When they point to failings, they do so in order to re-take ground. But The Lord is merciful, and allows us to pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and claim victory over our personal battles.
We are to occupy until He comes. Every generation has felt they were in ‘that time.’ Are we now? I think so!
If those that are aligned with the darkness had the power they think they do, they would succeeded by now. They don’t though. The spirit of Nimrod has been at work for quite a long time. God could decide to sweep the current evil into the dustbin of history and allow His people to continue on for a bit longer.
If that occurs, I sense much mayhem will transpire between now and then.
Although it seems like a step in the right direction, you’re saying what I’m saying, Jacob: it’s too little too late.
Nothing is going to appease or placate God’s wrath against America or deter His fierce anger in the slightest, the ONLY ones that can turn away His anger are individuals who either finally come to repentance and get truly saved and true believers, for them personally (and perhaps their family – I don’t know) only. But as for the rest of America, too little too late.
Spot on commentary.
It wont save the country, but there still be those looking for the true and this is maybe God giving the increase; 1Co_3:6 I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.
There are some little plants that need watering yet.
Another thing to consider is that as we approach the advent of the man of sin and his one world solution, much of the prophecies concerning him indicate that he will be esteemed not merely as a great secular leader but as a religious icon ultimately culminating in him claiming to be God. As people begin to push back against the moral abominations of our liberal society they will likely turn to religion as a common rallying point to oppose the evils of “the left”. I expect to see a continual increase in “reliogiosity” as we go forward if we are indeed close to the end.
John 16:1-3 KJV
1 These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended.
2 They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.
3 And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me.
(The verse is obviously pointed at the Jews but I wouldn’t be surprised to see some of this kind of trouble come our way before we are taken out)
Great point.
Which Ten Commandments? The last few times I’ve seen them displayed, it’s always been in a politicized place & manner, & they have displayed the Catholic version skipping the commandment against idolatry, & splitting the last commandment against coveting into two in order to keep the numbering ten.
–
Most people don’t know the real Bible well enough to tell the difference, and ecumenism has brought a lot of idolatrous mystical practices & psychological manipulation into many churches….that’s what the confusion of new world order bibles, NAR and Emergent are all about. Not to mention the great drugging, endrunkening seduction & sorcery that opens people to the antichrist spirit and the mystery of iniquity & all devils, promising healing & a better salvation while bringing nothing but destruction & death while ensuring damnation.
–
Louisiana is very Catholic and has been politically seeded with ‘conservative Christians’ (meaning Catholic) and phony Clinton ‘baptists’ & Masons representing ‘conservative evangelicals’. Bobby Jindal was part of that supposed ‘weather change’. Just like DeSantis in formerly Catholic held Florida.
–
Real Christians will point people to the real word, preaching repentance toward God & faith in the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to that word. Acts 20 KJB.
–
We attended a former baptist church in our little town that had the young people paint the ten commandments on the end of the building toward the street which had no windows. It proved such ‘an issue’ that money was suddenly donated to extend that wing of the building & install an elevator. Things were not quite in place for the c-word and hunger games, & the last thing the powers that shouldn’t be wanted was for people’s memories to be jarred with that Ten Commandments display, or to note the difference between it & the list in Catholic catechisms & materials.
–
Don’t miss a huge part of the issue here….& play into self-righteous idolatrous humanist Islamic/RCC/serpent-dragon ‘judgment’ of the United States which dared to incorporate & protect the rights of mankind as God gives them into the second attempt at a Constitution, because there was a sufficiently biblically& historically literate populace here who refused to ratify otherwise.
–
There are many proud, bitter & half-educated young people who don’t understand the direction this nation & the world are moving, or the Lord, so well as they think. Should the Lord not remove he who letteth, those remaining after the next crusade/jihad/golden horde ‘judgment’ will either compromise& go with the synchronicity, or be sorely persecuted as the saints & prophets of earlier ages while the world falls back to the Mother Babylonian Harlot.
This means nothing if the children are not taught what each commandment means and what the repercussions of breaking each commandment is. To do this, they will need to be taught the old Testament book of Deuteronomy; specifically Deuteronomy 11:26-28 and 28:2, 28:15. Plus all of the blessings and generational curses. They will also need to be taught the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ and about repentance.
If this is not done, and you know it will not because we are no longer a Christian nation, then the ten commandments will be viewed as just another historical document to decorate the schools’ hallways.
The 8th Commandment is thou shall not steal. This new “law” is an unfunded mandate in which the government will steal from others to buy posters and post them. This is nothing more than coddling the cultural “Christians” who will think they’re winning when they continue to lose. Who wants to bet a whole bunch of teachers will be posting these posters next to pride flags? This is nothing more than distraction. The CONservatives will never do anything tangible like de-funding the socialist government school system.
Exactly, you nailed it.
